وَلَمَّا تَوَجَّهَ تِلْقَآءَ مَدْيَنَ قَالَ عَسَىٰ رَبِّىٓ أَن يَهْدِيَنِى سَوَآءَ ٱلسَّبِيلِ 22
وَلَمَّا وَرَدَ مَآءَ مَدْيَنَ وَجَدَ عَلَيْهِ أُمَّةً مِّنَ ٱلنَّاسِ يَسْقُونَ وَوَجَدَ مِن دُونِهِمُ ٱمْرَأَتَيْنِ تَذُودَانِۖ قَالَ مَا خَطْبُكُمَاۖ قَالَتَا لَا نَسْقِى حَتَّىٰ يُصْدِرَ ٱلرِّعَآءُۖ وَأَبُونَا شَيْخٌ كَبِيرٌ 23
فَسَقَىٰ لَهُمَا ثُمَّ تَوَلَّىٰٓ إِلَى ٱلظِّلِّ فَقَالَ رَبِّ إِنِّى لِمَآ أَنزَلْتَ إِلَىَّ مِنْ خَيْرٍ فَقِيرٌ 24
فَجَآءَتْهُ إِحْدَٮٰهُمَا تَمْشِى عَلَى ٱسْتِحْيَآءٍ قَالَتْ إِنَّ أَبِى يَدْعُوكَ لِيَجْزِيَكَ أَجْرَ مَا سَقَيْتَ لَنَاۚ فَلَمَّا جَآءَهُۥ وَقَصَّ عَلَيْهِ ٱلْقَصَصَ قَالَ لَا تَخَفْۖ نَجَوْتَ مِنَ ٱلْقَوْمِ ٱلظَّـٰلِمِينَ 25
قَالَتْ إِحْدَٮٰهُمَا يَـٰٓأَبَتِ ٱسْتَــْٔجِرْهُۖ إِنَّ خَيْرَ مَنِ ٱسْتَــْٔجَرْتَ ٱلْقَوِىُّ ٱلْأَمِينُ 26
قَالَ إِنِّىٓ أُرِيدُ أَنْ أُنكِحَكَ إِحْدَى ٱبْنَتَىَّ هَـٰتَيْنِ عَلَىٰٓ أَن تَأْجُرَنِى ثَمَـٰنِىَ حِجَجٍۖ فَإِنْ أَتْمَمْتَ عَشْرًا فَمِنْ عِندِكَۖ وَمَآ أُرِيدُ أَنْ أَشُقَّ عَلَيْكَۚ سَتَجِدُنِىٓ إِن شَآءَ ٱللَّهُ مِنَ ٱلصَّـٰلِحِينَ 27
قَالَ ذَٲلِكَ بَيْنِى وَبَيْنَكَۖ أَيَّمَا ٱلْأَجَلَيْنِ قَضَيْتُ فَلَا عُدْوَٲنَ عَلَىَّۖ وَٱللَّهُ عَلَىٰ مَا نَقُولُ وَكِيلٌ 28
وَلَمَّاwalammāAnd whenتَوَجَّهَtawajjahahe turned his faceتِلْقَآءَtil'qāatowardsمَدْيَنَmadyanaMadyanقَالَqālahe saidعَسَىٰʿasāPerhapsرَبِّىٓrabbīmy Lordأَنan[that]يَهْدِيَنِىyahdiyanīwill guide meسَوَآءَsawāa(to the) soundٱلسَّبِيلِl-sabīliway
28:22
وَلَمَّاwalammāAnd whenوَرَدَwaradahe cameمَآءَmāa(to the) waterمَدْيَنَmadyana(of) Madyanوَجَدَwajadahe foundعَلَيْهِʿalayhion itأُمَّةًۭummatana groupمِّنَminaofٱلنَّاسِl-nāsimenيَسْقُونَyasqūnawateringوَوَجَدَwawajadaand he foundمِنminbesides themدُونِهِمُdūnihimubesides themٱمْرَأَتَيْنِim'ra-ataynitwo womenتَذُودَانِ ۖtadhūdānikeeping backقَالَqālaHe saidمَاmāWhatخَطْبُكُمَا ۖkhaṭbukumā(is the) matter with both of youقَالَتَاqālatāThey saidلَاlāWe cannot waterنَسْقِىnasqīWe cannot waterحَتَّىٰḥattāuntilيُصْدِرَyuṣ'diratake awayٱلرِّعَآءُ ۖl-riʿāuthe shepherdsوَأَبُونَاwa-abūnāand our fatherشَيْخٌۭshaykhun(is) a very old manكَبِيرٌۭkabīrun(is) a very old man
28:23
فَسَقَىٰfasaqāSo he wateredلَهُمَاlahumāfor themثُمَّthummaThenتَوَلَّىٰٓtawallāhe turned backإِلَىilātoٱلظِّلِّl-ẓilithe shadeفَقَالَfaqālaand saidرَبِّrabbiMy LordإِنِّىinnīIndeed, I amلِمَآlimāof whateverأَنزَلْتَanzaltaYou sendإِلَىَّilayyato meمِنْminofخَيْرٍۢkhayringoodفَقِيرٌۭfaqīrun(in) need
28:24
فَجَآءَتْهُfajāathuThen came to himإِحْدَىٰهُمَاiḥ'dāhumāone of the two womenتَمْشِىtamshīwalkingعَلَىʿalāwithٱسْتِحْيَآءٍۢis'tiḥ'yāinshynessقَالَتْqālatShe saidإِنَّinnaIndeedأَبِىabīmy fatherيَدْعُوكَyadʿūkacalls youلِيَجْزِيَكَliyajziyakathat he may reward youأَجْرَajra(the) rewardمَاmā(for) whatسَقَيْتَsaqaytayou wateredلَنَا ۚlanāfor usفَلَمَّاfalammāSo whenجَآءَهُۥjāahuhe came to himوَقَصَّwaqaṣṣaand narratedعَلَيْهِʿalayhito himٱلْقَصَصَl-qaṣaṣathe storyقَالَqālahe saidلَاlā(Do) notتَخَفْ ۖtakhaffearنَجَوْتَnajawtaYou have escapedمِنَminafromٱلْقَوْمِl-qawmithe people ٱلظَّـٰلِمِينَl-ẓālimīnathe wrongdoers
28:25
قَالَتْqālatSaidإِحْدَىٰهُمَاiḥ'dāhumāone of themيَـٰٓأَبَتِyāabatiO my fatherٱسْتَـْٔجِرْهُ ۖis'tajir'huHire himإِنَّinnaIndeedخَيْرَkhayra(the) bestمَنِmaniwhomٱسْتَـْٔجَرْتَis'tajartayou (can) hireٱلْقَوِىُّl-qawiyu(is) the strongٱلْأَمِينُl-amīnuthe trustworthy
28:26
قَالَqālaHe saidإِنِّىٓinnīIndeed, Iأُرِيدُurīdu[I] wishأَنْantoأُنكِحَكَunkiḥakamarry you toإِحْدَىiḥ'dāoneٱبْنَتَىَّib'natayya(of) my daughtersهَـٰتَيْنِhātayni(of) these twoعَلَىٰٓʿalāonأَنanthatتَأْجُرَنِىtajuranīyou serve meثَمَـٰنِىَthamāniya(for) eightحِجَجٍۢ ۖḥijajinyearsفَإِنْfa-inbut ifأَتْمَمْتَatmamtayou completeعَشْرًۭاʿashrantenفَمِنْfaminthen fromعِندِكَ ۖʿindikayouوَمَآwamāAnd notأُرِيدُurīduI wishأَنْantoأَشُقَّashuqqamake it difficultعَلَيْكَ ۚʿalaykafor youسَتَجِدُنِىٓsatajidunīYou will find meإِنinifشَآءَshāaAllah willsٱللَّهُl-lahuAllah willsمِنَminaofٱلصَّـٰلِحِينَl-ṣāliḥīnathe righteous
28:27
قَالَqālaHe saidذَٰلِكَdhālikaThatبَيْنِىbaynī(is) between meوَبَيْنَكَ ۖwabaynakaand between youأَيَّمَاayyamāWhicheverٱلْأَجَلَيْنِl-ajalayni(of) the two termsقَضَيْتُqaḍaytuI completeفَلَاfalāthen noعُدْوَٰنَʿud'wānainjusticeعَلَىَّ ۖʿalayyato meوَٱللَّهُwal-lahuand Allahعَلَىٰʿalāoverمَاmāwhatنَقُولُnaqūluwe sayوَكِيلٌۭwakīlun(is) a Witness
28:28
