وَٱلَّذِينَ يُتَوَفَّوْنَ مِنكُمْ وَيَذَرُونَ أَزْوَٲجًا يَتَرَبَّصْنَ بِأَنفُسِهِنَّ أَرْبَعَةَ أَشْهُرٍ وَعَشْرًاۖ فَإِذَا بَلَغْنَ أَجَلَهُنَّ فَلَا جُنَاحَ عَلَيْكُمْ فِيمَا فَعَلْنَ فِىٓ أَنفُسِهِنَّ بِٱلْمَعْرُوفِۗ وَٱللَّهُ بِمَا تَعْمَلُونَ خَبِيرٌ 234
وَلَا جُنَاحَ عَلَيْكُمْ فِيمَا عَرَّضْتُم بِهِۦ مِنْ خِطْبَةِ ٱلنِّسَآءِ أَوْ أَكْنَنتُمْ فِىٓ أَنفُسِكُمْۚ عَلِمَ ٱللَّهُ أَنَّكُمْ سَتَذْكُرُونَهُنَّ وَلَـٰكِن لَّا تُوَاعِدُوهُنَّ سِرًّا إِلَّآ أَن تَقُولُواْ قَوْلاً مَّعْرُوفًاۚ وَلَا تَعْزِمُواْ عُقْدَةَ ٱلنِّكَاحِ حَتَّىٰ يَبْلُغَ ٱلْكِتَـٰبُ أَجَلَهُۥۚ وَٱعْلَمُوٓاْ أَنَّ ٱللَّهَ يَعْلَمُ مَا فِىٓ أَنفُسِكُمْ فَٱحْذَرُوهُۚ وَٱعْلَمُوٓاْ أَنَّ ٱللَّهَ غَفُورٌ حَلِيمٌ 235
لَّا جُنَاحَ عَلَيْكُمْ إِن طَلَّقْتُمُ ٱلنِّسَآءَ مَا لَمْ تَمَسُّوهُنَّ أَوْ تَفْرِضُواْ لَهُنَّ فَرِيضَةًۚ وَمَتِّعُوهُنَّ عَلَى ٱلْمُوسِعِ قَدَرُهُۥ وَعَلَى ٱلْمُقْتِرِ قَدَرُهُۥ مَتَـٰعَۢا بِٱلْمَعْرُوفِۖ حَقًّا عَلَى ٱلْمُحْسِنِينَ 236
وَإِن طَلَّقْتُمُوهُنَّ مِن قَبْلِ أَن تَمَسُّوهُنَّ وَقَدْ فَرَضْتُمْ لَهُنَّ فَرِيضَةً فَنِصْفُ مَا فَرَضْتُمْ إِلَّآ أَن يَعْفُونَ أَوْ يَعْفُوَاْ ٱلَّذِى بِيَدِهِۦ عُقْدَةُ ٱلنِّكَاحِۚ وَأَن تَعْفُوٓاْ أَقْرَبُ لِلتَّقْوَىٰۚ وَلَا تَنسَوُاْ ٱلْفَضْلَ بَيْنَكُمْۚ إِنَّ ٱللَّهَ بِمَا تَعْمَلُونَ بَصِيرٌ 237
وَٱلَّذِينَwa-alladhīnaAnd those whoيُتَوَفَّوْنَyutawaffawnapass awayمِنكُمْminkumamong youوَيَذَرُونَwayadharūnaand leave behindأَزْوَٰجًۭاazwājanwivesيَتَرَبَّصْنَyatarabbaṣna(the widows) should waitبِأَنفُسِهِنَّbi-anfusihinnafor themselvesأَرْبَعَةَarbaʿata(for) fourأَشْهُرٍۢashhurinmonthsوَعَشْرًۭا ۖwaʿashranand ten (days)فَإِذَاfa-idhāThen whenبَلَغْنَbalaghnathey reachأَجَلَهُنَّajalahunnatheir (specified) termفَلَاfalāthen (there is) noجُنَاحَjunāḥablameعَلَيْكُمْʿalaykumupon youفِيمَاfīmāfor whatفَعَلْنَfaʿalnathey doفِىٓfīconcerningأَنفُسِهِنَّanfusihinnathemselvesبِٱلْمَعْرُوفِ ۗbil-maʿrūfiin a fair mannerوَٱللَّهُwal-lahuAnd Allahبِمَاbimāof whatتَعْمَلُونَtaʿmalūnayou doخَبِيرٌۭkhabīrun(is) All-Aware
2:234
وَلَاwalāAnd (there is) noجُنَاحَjunāḥablameعَلَيْكُمْʿalaykumupon youفِيمَاfīmāin whatعَرَّضْتُمʿarraḍtumyou hintبِهِۦbihi[with it]مِنْminofخِطْبَةِkhiṭ'batimarriage proposalٱلنِّسَآءِl-nisāi[to] the womenأَوْaworأَكْنَنتُمْaknantumyou conceal itفِىٓfīinأَنفُسِكُمْ ۚanfusikumyourselvesعَلِمَʿalimaKnowsٱللَّهُl-lahuAllahأَنَّكُمْannakumthat youسَتَذْكُرُونَهُنَّsatadhkurūnahunnawill mention themوَلَـٰكِنwalākin[and] butلَّاlā(do) notتُوَاعِدُوهُنَّtuwāʿidūhunnapromise them (widows)سِرًّاsirransecretlyإِلَّآillāexceptأَنanthatتَقُولُوا۟taqūlūyou sayقَوْلًۭاqawlana sayingمَّعْرُوفًۭا ۚmaʿrūfanhonorableوَلَاwalāAnd (do) notتَعْزِمُوا۟taʿzimūresolve (on)عُقْدَةَʿuq'datathe knotٱلنِّكَاحِl-nikāḥi(of) marriageحَتَّىٰḥattāuntilيَبْلُغَyablughareachesٱلْكِتَـٰبُl-kitābuthe prescribed termأَجَلَهُۥ ۚajalahuits endوَٱعْلَمُوٓا۟wa-iʿ'lamūAnd knowأَنَّannathatٱللَّهَl-lahaAllahيَعْلَمُyaʿlamuknowsمَاmāwhatفِىٓfī(is) withinأَنفُسِكُمْanfusikumyourselvesفَٱحْذَرُوهُ ۚfa-iḥ'dharūhuso beware of Himوَٱعْلَمُوٓا۟wa-iʿ'lamūAnd knowأَنَّannathatٱللَّهَl-lahaAllahغَفُورٌghafūrun(is) Oft-ForgivingحَلِيمٌۭḥalīmunMost Forbearing
2:235
لَّاlā(There is) noجُنَاحَjunāḥablameعَلَيْكُمْʿalaykumupon youإِنinifطَلَّقْتُمُṭallaqtumuyou divorceٱلنِّسَآءَl-nisāa[the] womenمَاmāwhomلَمْlamnotتَمَسُّوهُنَّtamassūhunnayou have touchedأَوْawnorتَفْرِضُوا۟tafriḍūyou specifiedلَهُنَّlahunnafor themفَرِيضَةًۭ ۚfarīḍatanan obligation (dower)وَمَتِّعُوهُنَّwamattiʿūhunnaAnd make provision for them عَلَىʿalāuponٱلْمُوسِعِl-mūsiʿithe wealthyقَدَرُهُۥqadaruhuaccording to his meansوَعَلَىwaʿalāand uponٱلْمُقْتِرِl-muq'tirithe poorقَدَرُهُۥqadaruhuaccording to his means مَتَـٰعًۢاmatāʿana provisionبِٱلْمَعْرُوفِ ۖbil-maʿrūfiin a fair mannerحَقًّاḥaqqana dutyعَلَىʿalāuponٱلْمُحْسِنِينَl-muḥ'sinīnathe good-doers
2:236
وَإِنwa-inAnd ifطَلَّقْتُمُوهُنَّṭallaqtumūhunnayou divorce themمِنminfromقَبْلِqablibeforeأَنan[that]تَمَسُّوهُنَّtamassūhunnayou (have) touched themوَقَدْwaqadwhile alreadyفَرَضْتُمْfaraḍtumyou have specifiedلَهُنَّlahunnafor themفَرِيضَةًۭfarīḍatanan obligation (dower)فَنِصْفُfaniṣ'futhen (give) halfمَاmā(of) whatفَرَضْتُمْfaraḍtumyou have specifiedإِلَّآillāunlessأَنan[that]يَعْفُونَyaʿfūnathey (women) forgo (it)أَوْaworيَعْفُوَا۟yaʿfuwāforgoesٱلَّذِىalladhīthe oneبِيَدِهِۦbiyadihiin whose handsعُقْدَةُʿuq'datu(is the) knotٱلنِّكَاحِ ۚl-nikāḥi(of) the marriageوَأَنwa-anAnd thatتَعْفُوٓا۟taʿfūyou forgoأَقْرَبُaqrabu(is) nearerلِلتَّقْوَىٰ ۚlilttaqwāto [the] righteousnessوَلَاwalāAnd (do) notتَنسَوُا۟tansawūforgetٱلْفَضْلَl-faḍlathe graciousnessبَيْنَكُمْ ۚbaynakumamong youإِنَّinnaIndeedٱللَّهَl-lahaAllahبِمَاbimāof whatتَعْمَلُونَtaʿmalūnayou doبَصِيرٌbaṣīrun(is) All-Seer
2:237
