وَإِذَا طَلَّقْتُمُ ٱلنِّسَآءَ فَبَلَغْنَ أَجَلَهُنَّ فَأَمْسِكُوهُنَّ بِمَعْرُوفٍ أَوْ سَرِّحُوهُنَّ بِمَعْرُوفٍۚ وَلَا تُمْسِكُوهُنَّ ضِرَارًا لِّتَعْتَدُواْۚ وَمَن يَفْعَلْ ذَٲلِكَ فَقَدْ ظَلَمَ نَفْسَهُۥۚ وَلَا تَتَّخِذُوٓاْ ءَايَـٰتِ ٱللَّهِ هُزُوًاۚ وَٱذْكُرُواْ نِعْمَتَ ٱللَّهِ عَلَيْكُمْ وَمَآ أَنزَلَ عَلَيْكُم مِّنَ ٱلْكِتَـٰبِ وَٱلْحِكْمَةِ يَعِظُكُم بِهِۦۚ وَٱتَّقُواْ ٱللَّهَ وَٱعْلَمُوٓاْ أَنَّ ٱللَّهَ بِكُلِّ شَىْءٍ عَلِيمٌ 231
وَإِذَا طَلَّقْتُمُ ٱلنِّسَآءَ فَبَلَغْنَ أَجَلَهُنَّ فَلَا تَعْضُلُوهُنَّ أَن يَنكِحْنَ أَزْوَٲجَهُنَّ إِذَا تَرَٲضَوْاْ بَيْنَهُم بِٱلْمَعْرُوفِۗ ذَٲلِكَ يُوعَظُ بِهِۦ مَن كَانَ مِنكُمْ يُؤْمِنُ بِٱللَّهِ وَٱلْيَوْمِ ٱلْأَخِرِۗ ذَٲلِكُمْ أَزْكَىٰ لَكُمْ وَأَطْهَرُۗ وَٱللَّهُ يَعْلَمُ وَأَنتُمْ لَا تَعْلَمُونَ 232
۞ وَٱلْوَٲلِدَٲتُ يُرْضِعْنَ أَوْلَـٰدَهُنَّ حَوْلَيْنِ كَامِلَيْنِۖ لِمَنْ أَرَادَ أَن يُتِمَّ ٱلرَّضَاعَةَۚ وَعَلَى ٱلْمَوْلُودِ لَهُۥ رِزْقُهُنَّ وَكِسْوَتُهُنَّ بِٱلْمَعْرُوفِۚ لَا تُكَلَّفُ نَفْسٌ إِلَّا وُسْعَهَاۚ لَا تُضَآرَّ وَٲلِدَةُۢ بِوَلَدِهَا وَلَا مَوْلُودٌ لَّهُۥ بِوَلَدِهِۦۚ وَعَلَى ٱلْوَارِثِ مِثْلُ ذَٲلِكَۗ فَإِنْ أَرَادَا فِصَالاً عَن تَرَاضٍ مِّنْهُمَا وَتَشَاوُرٍ فَلَا جُنَاحَ عَلَيْهِمَاۗ وَإِنْ أَرَدتُّمْ أَن تَسْتَرْضِعُوٓاْ أَوْلَـٰدَكُمْ فَلَا جُنَاحَ عَلَيْكُمْ إِذَا سَلَّمْتُم مَّآ ءَاتَيْتُم بِٱلْمَعْرُوفِۗ وَٱتَّقُواْ ٱللَّهَ وَٱعْلَمُوٓاْ أَنَّ ٱللَّهَ بِمَا تَعْمَلُونَ بَصِيرٌ 233
وَإِذَاwa-idhāAnd whenطَلَّقْتُمُṭallaqtumuyou divorceٱلنِّسَآءَl-nisāathe womenفَبَلَغْنَfabalaghnaand they reachأَجَلَهُنَّajalahunnatheir (waiting) termفَأَمْسِكُوهُنَّfa-amsikūhunnathen retain themبِمَعْرُوفٍbimaʿrūfinin a fair mannerأَوْaworسَرِّحُوهُنَّsarriḥūhunnarelease themبِمَعْرُوفٍۢ ۚbimaʿrūfinin a fair mannerوَلَاwalāAnd (do) notتُمْسِكُوهُنَّtum'sikūhunnaretain themضِرَارًۭاḍirāran(to) hurtلِّتَعْتَدُوا۟ ۚlitaʿtadūso that you transgressوَمَنwamanAnd whoeverيَفْعَلْyafʿaldoesذَٰلِكَdhālikathatفَقَدْfaqadthen indeedظَلَمَẓalamahe wrongedنَفْسَهُۥ ۚnafsahuhimselfوَلَاwalāAnd (do) notتَتَّخِذُوٓا۟tattakhidhūtakeءَايَـٰتِāyāti(the) Versesٱللَّهِl-lahi(of) Allahهُزُوًۭا ۚhuzuwan(in) jestوَٱذْكُرُوا۟wa-udh'kurūand rememberنِعْمَتَniʿ'mata(the) Favorsٱللَّهِl-lahi(of) Allahعَلَيْكُمْʿalaykumupon youوَمَآwamāand whatأَنزَلَanzala(is) revealedعَلَيْكُمʿalaykumto youمِّنَminaofٱلْكِتَـٰبِl-kitābithe Bookوَٱلْحِكْمَةِwal-ḥik'matiand [the] wisdomيَعِظُكُمyaʿiẓukumHe instructs youبِهِۦ ۚbihiwith itوَٱتَّقُوا۟wa-ittaqūAnd fearٱللَّهَl-lahaAllahوَٱعْلَمُوٓا۟wa-iʿ'lamūand knowأَنَّannathatٱللَّهَl-lahaAllah (is)بِكُلِّbikulliof everyشَىْءٍshayinthingعَلِيمٌۭʿalīmunAll-Knower
2:231
وَإِذَاwa-idhāAnd whenطَلَّقْتُمُṭallaqtumuyou divorceٱلنِّسَآءَl-nisāa[the] womenفَبَلَغْنَfabalaghnaand they reachedأَجَلَهُنَّajalahunnatheir (waiting) termفَلَاfalāthen (do) notتَعْضُلُوهُنَّtaʿḍulūhunnahinder themأَنan[that]يَنكِحْنَyankiḥ'na(from) marryingأَزْوَٰجَهُنَّazwājahunnatheir husbandsإِذَاidhāwhenتَرَٰضَوْا۟tarāḍawthey agreeبَيْنَهُمbaynahumbetween themselvesبِٱلْمَعْرُوفِ ۗbil-maʿrūfiin a fair mannerذَٰلِكَdhālikaThatيُوعَظُyūʿaẓuis admonishedبِهِۦbihiwith itمَنmanwhoeverكَانَkāna[is]مِنكُمْminkumamong youيُؤْمِنُyu'minubelievesبِٱللَّهِbil-lahiin Allahوَٱلْيَوْمِwal-yawmiand the Dayٱلْـَٔاخِرِ ۗl-ākhiri[the] Lastذَٰلِكُمْdhālikumthatأَزْكَىٰazkā(is) more virtuousلَكُمْlakumfor youوَأَطْهَرُ ۗwa-aṭharuand more purerوَٱللَّهُwal-lahuAnd Allahيَعْلَمُyaʿlamuknowsوَأَنتُمْwa-antumand youلَاlā(do) notتَعْلَمُونَtaʿlamūnaknow
2:232
۞ وَٱلْوَٰلِدَٰتُwal-wālidātuAnd the mothersيُرْضِعْنَyur'ḍiʿ'nashall suckleأَوْلَـٰدَهُنَّawlādahunnatheir childrenحَوْلَيْنِḥawlayni(for) two yearsكَامِلَيْنِ ۖkāmilaynicompleteلِمَنْlimanfor whoeverأَرَادَarādawishesأَنantoيُتِمَّyutimmacompleteٱلرَّضَاعَةَ ۚl-raḍāʿatathe sucklingوَعَلَىwaʿalāAnd uponٱلْمَوْلُودِl-mawlūdithe fatherلَهُۥlahu(on) himرِزْقُهُنَّriz'quhunna(is) their provisionوَكِسْوَتُهُنَّwakis'watuhunnaand their clothingبِٱلْمَعْرُوفِ ۚbil-maʿrūfiin a fair mannerلَاlāNotتُكَلَّفُtukallafuis burdenedنَفْسٌnafsunany soulإِلَّاillāexceptوُسْعَهَا ۚwus'ʿahāits capacityلَاlāNotتُضَآرَّtuḍārramade to sufferوَٰلِدَةٌۢwālidatun(the) motherبِوَلَدِهَاbiwaladihābecause of her childوَلَاwalāand notمَوْلُودٌۭmawlūdun(the) fatherلَّهُۥlahu(be)بِوَلَدِهِۦ ۚbiwaladihibecause of his childوَعَلَىwaʿalāAnd onٱلْوَارِثِl-wārithithe (father's) heirمِثْلُmith'lu(is a duty) likeذَٰلِكَ ۗdhālikathat (of the father)فَإِنْfa-inThen ifأَرَادَاarādāthey both desireفِصَالًاfiṣālanweaningعَنʿanthroughتَرَاضٍۢtarāḍinmutual consentمِّنْهُمَاmin'humāof both of themوَتَشَاوُرٍۢwatashāwurinand consultationفَلَاfalāthen noجُنَاحَjunāḥablameعَلَيْهِمَا ۗʿalayhimāon both of themوَإِنْwa-inAnd ifأَرَدتُّمْaradttumyou wantأَنantoتَسْتَرْضِعُوٓا۟tastarḍiʿūask another women to suckleأَوْلَـٰدَكُمْawlādakumyour childفَلَاfalāthen (there is) noجُنَاحَjunāḥablameعَلَيْكُمْʿalaykumon youإِذَاidhāwhenسَلَّمْتُمsallamtumyou payمَّآmāwhatءَاتَيْتُمātaytumyou giveبِٱلْمَعْرُوفِ ۗbil-maʿrūfiin a fair mannerوَٱتَّقُوا۟wa-ittaqūAnd fearٱللَّهَl-lahaAllahوَٱعْلَمُوٓا۟wa-iʿ'lamūand knowأَنَّannathatٱللَّهَl-lahaAllahبِمَاbimāof whatتَعْمَلُونَtaʿmalūnayou doبَصِيرٌۭbaṣīrun(is) All-Seer
