لَقَدِ ٱبْتَغَوُاْ ٱلْفِتْنَةَ مِن قَبْلُ وَقَلَّبُواْ لَكَ ٱلْأُمُورَ حَتَّىٰ جَآءَ ٱلْحَقُّ وَظَهَرَ أَمْرُ ٱللَّهِ وَهُمْ كَـٰرِهُونَ 48
وَمِنْهُم مَّن يَقُولُ ٱئْذَن لِّى وَلَا تَفْتِنِّىٓۚ أَلَا فِى ٱلْفِتْنَةِ سَقَطُواْۗ وَإِنَّ جَهَنَّمَ لَمُحِيطَةُۢ بِٱلْكَـٰفِرِينَ 49
إِن تُصِبْكَ حَسَنَةٌ تَسُؤْهُمْۖ وَإِن تُصِبْكَ مُصِيبَةٌ يَقُولُواْ قَدْ أَخَذْنَآ أَمْرَنَا مِن قَبْلُ وَيَتَوَلَّواْ وَّهُمْ فَرِحُونَ 50
قُل لَّن يُصِيبَنَآ إِلَّا مَا كَتَبَ ٱللَّهُ لَنَا هُوَ مَوْلَـٰنَاۚ وَعَلَى ٱللَّهِ فَلْيَتَوَكَّلِ ٱلْمُؤْمِنُونَ 51
قُلْ هَلْ تَرَبَّصُونَ بِنَآ إِلَّآ إِحْدَى ٱلْحُسْنَيَيْنِۖ وَنَحْنُ نَتَرَبَّصُ بِكُمْ أَن يُصِيبَكُمُ ٱللَّهُ بِعَذَابٍ مِّنْ عِندِهِۦٓ أَوْ بِأَيْدِينَاۖ فَتَرَبَّصُوٓاْ إِنَّا مَعَكُم مُّتَرَبِّصُونَ 52
قُلْ أَنفِقُواْ طَوْعًا أَوْ كَرْهًا لَّن يُتَقَبَّلَ مِنكُمْۖ إِنَّكُمْ كُنتُمْ قَوْمًا فَـٰسِقِينَ 53
وَمَا مَنَعَهُمْ أَن تُقْبَلَ مِنْهُمْ نَفَقَـٰتُهُمْ إِلَّآ أَنَّهُمْ كَفَرُواْ بِٱللَّهِ وَبِرَسُولِهِۦ وَلَا يَأْتُونَ ٱلصَّلَوٲةَ إِلَّا وَهُمْ كُسَالَىٰ وَلَا يُنفِقُونَ إِلَّا وَهُمْ كَـٰرِهُونَ 54
لَقَدِlaqadiVerilyٱبْتَغَوُا۟ib'taghawūthey had soughtٱلْفِتْنَةَl-fit'natadissensionمِنminbeforeقَبْلُqablubeforeوَقَلَّبُوا۟waqallabūand had upsetلَكَlakafor youٱلْأُمُورَl-umūrathe mattersحَتَّىٰḥattāuntilجَآءَjāacameٱلْحَقُّl-ḥaquthe truthوَظَهَرَwaẓaharaand became manifestأَمْرُamru(the) Order of Allahٱللَّهِl-lahi(the) Order of Allahوَهُمْwahumwhile theyكَـٰرِهُونَkārihūnadisliked (it)
9:48
وَمِنْهُمwamin'humAnd among themمَّنman(is he) whoيَقُولُyaqūlusaysٱئْذَنi'dhanGrant me leaveلِّىlīGrant me leaveوَلَاwalāand (do) notتَفْتِنِّىٓ ۚtaftinnīput me to trialأَلَاalāSurelyفِىfīinٱلْفِتْنَةِl-fit'natithe trialسَقَطُوا۟ ۗsaqaṭūthey have fallenوَإِنَّwa-innaAnd indeedجَهَنَّمَjahannamaHellلَمُحِيطَةٌۢlamuḥīṭatun(will) surely surroundبِٱلْكَـٰفِرِينَbil-kāfirīnathe disbelievers
9:49
إِنinIfتُصِبْكَtuṣib'kabefalls youحَسَنَةٌۭḥasanatungoodتَسُؤْهُمْ ۖtasu'humit distresses themوَإِنwa-inbut ifتُصِبْكَtuṣib'kabefalls youمُصِيبَةٌۭmuṣībatuna calamityيَقُولُوا۟yaqūlūthey sayقَدْqadVerilyأَخَذْنَآakhadhnāwe tookأَمْرَنَاamranāour matterمِنminbeforeقَبْلُqablubeforeوَيَتَوَلَّوا۟wayatawallawAnd they turn awayوَّهُمْwahumwhile theyفَرِحُونَfariḥūna(are) rejoicing
9:50
قُلqulSayلَّنlanNeverيُصِيبَنَآyuṣībanāwill befall usإِلَّاillāexceptمَاmāwhatكَتَبَkatabaAllah has decreedٱللَّهُl-lahuAllah has decreedلَنَاlanāfor usهُوَhuwaHeمَوْلَىٰنَا ۚmawlānā(is) our ProtectorوَعَلَىwaʿalāAnd onٱللَّهِl-lahiAllahفَلْيَتَوَكَّلِfalyatawakkali[so] let the believers put (their) trustٱلْمُؤْمِنُونَl-mu'minūna[so] let the believers put (their) trust
9:51
قُلْqulSayهَلْhalDoتَرَبَّصُونَtarabbaṣūnayou awaitبِنَآbināfor usإِلَّآillāexceptإِحْدَىiḥ'dāoneٱلْحُسْنَيَيْنِ ۖl-ḥus'nayayni(of) the two best (things)وَنَحْنُwanaḥnuwhile weنَتَرَبَّصُnatarabbaṣu[we] awaitبِكُمْbikumfor youأَنanthatيُصِيبَكُمُyuṣībakumuAllah will afflict youٱللَّهُl-lahuAllah will afflict youبِعَذَابٍۢbiʿadhābinwith a punishmentمِّنْminfromعِندِهِۦٓʿindihi[near] Himأَوْaworبِأَيْدِينَا ۖbi-aydīnāby our handsفَتَرَبَّصُوٓا۟fatarabbaṣūSo waitإِنَّاinnāindeed, weمَعَكُمmaʿakumwith youمُّتَرَبِّصُونَmutarabbiṣūna(are) waiting
9:52
قُلْqulSayأَنفِقُوا۟anfiqūSpendطَوْعًاṭawʿanwillinglyأَوْaworكَرْهًۭاkarhanunwillinglyلَّنlanneverيُتَقَبَّلَyutaqabbalawill be acceptedمِنكُمْ ۖminkumfrom youإِنَّكُمْinnakumIndeed, youكُنتُمْkuntum[you] areقَوْمًۭاqawmana peopleفَـٰسِقِينَfāsiqīnadefiantly disobedient
9:53
وَمَاwamāAnd notمَنَعَهُمْmanaʿahumprevents themأَنanthatتُقْبَلَtuq'balais acceptedمِنْهُمْmin'humfrom themنَفَقَـٰتُهُمْnafaqātuhumtheir contributionsإِلَّآillāexceptأَنَّهُمْannahumthat theyكَفَرُوا۟kafarūdisbelieveبِٱللَّهِbil-lahiin Allahوَبِرَسُولِهِۦwabirasūlihiand in His Messengerوَلَاwalāand notيَأْتُونَyatūnathey comeٱلصَّلَوٰةَl-ṣalata(to) the prayerإِلَّاillāexceptوَهُمْwahumwhile theyكُسَالَىٰkusālā(are) lazyوَلَاwalāand notيُنفِقُونَyunfiqūnathey spendإِلَّاillāexceptوَهُمْwahumwhile theyكَـٰرِهُونَkārihūna(are) unwilling
9:54
