قَالُواْ ٱدْعُ لَنَا رَبَّكَ يُبَيِّن لَّنَا مَا هِىَ إِنَّ ٱلْبَقَرَ تَشَـٰبَهَ عَلَيْنَا وَإِنَّآ إِن شَآءَ ٱللَّهُ لَمُهْتَدُونَ 70
قَالَ إِنَّهُۥ يَقُولُ إِنَّهَا بَقَرَةٌ لَّا ذَلُولٌ تُثِيرُ ٱلْأَرْضَ وَلَا تَسْقِى ٱلْحَرْثَ مُسَلَّمَةٌ لَّا شِيَةَ فِيهَاۚ قَالُواْ ٱلْـَٔـٰنَ جِئْتَ بِٱلْحَقِّۚ فَذَبَحُوهَا وَمَا كَادُواْ يَفْعَلُونَ 71
وَإِذْ قَتَلْتُمْ نَفْسًا فَٱدَّٲرَٲْٔتُمْ فِيهَاۖ وَٱللَّهُ مُخْرِجٌ مَّا كُنتُمْ تَكْتُمُونَ 72
فَقُلْنَا ٱضْرِبُوهُ بِبَعْضِهَاۚ كَذَٲلِكَ يُحْىِ ٱللَّهُ ٱلْمَوْتَىٰ وَيُرِيكُمْ ءَايَـٰتِهِۦ لَعَلَّكُمْ تَعْقِلُونَ 73
ثُمَّ قَسَتْ قُلُوبُكُم مِّنۢ بَعْدِ ذَٲلِكَ فَهِىَ كَٱلْحِجَارَةِ أَوْ أَشَدُّ قَسْوَةًۚ وَإِنَّ مِنَ ٱلْحِجَارَةِ لَمَا يَتَفَجَّرُ مِنْهُ ٱلْأَنْهَـٰرُۚ وَإِنَّ مِنْهَا لَمَا يَشَّقَّقُ فَيَخْرُجُ مِنْهُ ٱلْمَآءُۚ وَإِنَّ مِنْهَا لَمَا يَهْبِطُ مِنْ خَشْيَةِ ٱللَّهِۗ وَمَا ٱللَّهُ بِغَـٰفِلٍ عَمَّا تَعْمَلُونَ 74
۞ أَفَتَطْمَعُونَ أَن يُؤْمِنُواْ لَكُمْ وَقَدْ كَانَ فَرِيقٌ مِّنْهُمْ يَسْمَعُونَ كَلَـٰمَ ٱللَّهِ ثُمَّ يُحَرِّفُونَهُۥ مِنۢ بَعْدِ مَا عَقَلُوهُ وَهُمْ يَعْلَمُونَ 75
وَإِذَا لَقُواْ ٱلَّذِينَ ءَامَنُواْ قَالُوٓاْ ءَامَنَّا وَإِذَا خَلَا بَعْضُهُمْ إِلَىٰ بَعْضٍ قَالُوٓاْ أَتُحَدِّثُونَهُم بِمَا فَتَحَ ٱللَّهُ عَلَيْكُمْ لِيُحَآجُّوكُم بِهِۦ عِندَ رَبِّكُمْۚ أَفَلَا تَعْقِلُونَ 76
قَالُوا۟qālūThey saidٱدْعُud'ʿuPrayلَنَاlanāfor usرَبَّكَrabbaka(to) your Lordيُبَيِّنyubayyinto make clearلَّنَاlanāto usمَاmāwhatهِىَhiyait (is)إِنَّinnaIndeedٱلْبَقَرَl-baqara[the] cowsتَشَـٰبَهَtashābahalook alikeعَلَيْنَاʿalaynāto usوَإِنَّآwa-innāAnd indeed weإِنinifشَآءَshāawillsٱللَّهُl-lahuAllahلَمُهْتَدُونَlamuh'tadūna(will) surely be those who are guided
2:70
قَالَqālaHe saidإِنَّهُۥinnahuIndeed, Heيَقُولُyaqūlusaysإِنَّهَاinnahā[Indeed] itبَقَرَةٌۭbaqaratun(is) a cowلَّاlānotذَلُولٌۭdhalūluntrainedتُثِيرُtuthīruto ploughٱلْأَرْضَl-arḍathe earthوَلَاwalāand notتَسْقِىtasqīwaterٱلْحَرْثَl-ḥarthathe fieldمُسَلَّمَةٌۭmusallamatunsoundلَّاlānoشِيَةَshiyatablemishفِيهَا ۚfīhāin itقَالُوا۟qālūThey saidٱلْـَٔـٰنَl-ānaNowجِئْتَji'tayou have comeبِٱلْحَقِّ ۚbil-ḥaqiwith the truthفَذَبَحُوهَاfadhabaḥūhāSo they slaughtered itوَمَاwamāand notكَادُوا۟kādūthey were nearيَفْعَلُونَyafʿalūna(to) doing (it)
2:71
وَإِذْwa-idhAnd whenقَتَلْتُمْqataltumyou killedنَفْسًۭاnafsana manفَٱدَّٰرَْٰٔتُمْfa-iddāratumthen you disputedفِيهَا ۖfīhāconcerning itوَٱللَّهُwal-lahubut Allahمُخْرِجٌۭmukh'rijun(is) the One Who brought forthمَّاmāwhatكُنتُمْkuntumyou wereتَكْتُمُونَtaktumūnaconcealing
2:72
فَقُلْنَاfaqul'nāSo We saidٱضْرِبُوهُiḍ'ribūhuStrike himبِبَعْضِهَا ۚbibaʿḍihāwith a part of itكَذَٰلِكَkadhālikaLike thisيُحْىِyuḥ'yīrevivesٱللَّهُl-lahuAllahٱلْمَوْتَىٰl-mawtāthe deadوَيُرِيكُمْwayurīkumand shows youءَايَـٰتِهِۦāyātihiHis Signsلَعَلَّكُمْlaʿallakumperhaps you mayتَعْقِلُونَtaʿqilūnause your intellect
2:73
ثُمَّthummaThenقَسَتْqasathardenedقُلُوبُكُمqulūbukumyour heartsمِّنۢminfromبَعْدِbaʿdiafterذَٰلِكَdhālikathatفَهِىَfahiyaso theyكَٱلْحِجَارَةِkal-ḥijārati(became) like [the] stonesأَوْaworأَشَدُّashaddustrongerقَسْوَةًۭ ۚqaswatan(in) hardnessوَإِنَّwa-innaAnd indeedمِنَminafromٱلْحِجَارَةِl-ḥijāratithe stonesلَمَاlamācertainly (there are some) whichيَتَفَجَّرُyatafajjarugush forthمِنْهُmin'hufrom itٱلْأَنْهَـٰرُ ۚl-anhāru[the] riversوَإِنَّwa-innaand indeedمِنْهَاmin'hāfrom themلَمَاlamācertainly (there are some) whichيَشَّقَّقُyashaqqaqusplitفَيَخْرُجُfayakhrujuso comes outمِنْهُmin'hufrom itٱلْمَآءُ ۚl-māu[the] waterوَإِنَّwa-innaand indeedمِنْهَاmin'hāfrom themلَمَاlamācertainly (there are some) whichيَهْبِطُyahbiṭufall downمِنْminfromخَشْيَةِkhashyatifearٱللَّهِ ۗl-lahi(of) AllahوَمَاwamāAnd notٱللَّهُl-lahu(is) Allahبِغَـٰفِلٍbighāfilinunawareعَمَّاʿammāof whatتَعْمَلُونَtaʿmalūnayou do
2:74
۞ أَفَتَطْمَعُونَafataṭmaʿūnaDo you hopeأَنanthatيُؤْمِنُوا۟yu'minūthey will believeلَكُمْlakum[for] youوَقَدْwaqadwhile indeedكَانَkāna(there) has beenفَرِيقٌۭfarīquna partyمِّنْهُمْmin'humof themيَسْمَعُونَyasmaʿūna(who used to) hearكَلَـٰمَkalāma(the) wordsٱللَّهِl-lahi(of) Allahثُمَّthummathenيُحَرِّفُونَهُۥyuḥarrifūnahuthey distort itمِنۢminfromبَعْدِbaʿdiafterمَاmā[what]عَقَلُوهُʿaqalūhuthey understood itوَهُمْwahumwhile theyيَعْلَمُونَyaʿlamūnaknow
2:75
وَإِذَاwa-idhāAnd whenلَقُوا۟laqūthey meetٱلَّذِينَalladhīnathose whoءَامَنُوا۟āmanūbelieve[d]قَالُوٓا۟qālūthey sayءَامَنَّاāmannāWe have believedوَإِذَاwa-idhāBut whenخَلَاkhalāmeet in privateبَعْضُهُمْbaʿḍuhumsome of themإِلَىٰilāwithبَعْضٍۢbaʿḍinsome (others)قَالُوٓا۟qālūthey sayأَتُحَدِّثُونَهُمatuḥaddithūnahumDo you tell themبِمَاbimāwhatفَتَحَfataḥahasٱللَّهُl-lahuAllahعَلَيْكُمْʿalaykumto youلِيُحَآجُّوكُمliyuḥājjūkumso that they argue with youبِهِۦbihitherewithعِندَʿindabeforeرَبِّكُمْ ۚrabbikumyour LordأَفَلَاafalāThen do (you) notتَعْقِلُونَtaʿqilūnaunderstand
2:76
