وَلَوْ أَنَّا كَتَبْنَا عَلَيْهِمْ أَنِ ٱقْتُلُوٓاْ أَنفُسَكُمْ أَوِ ٱخْرُجُواْ مِن دِيَـٰرِكُم مَّا فَعَلُوهُ إِلَّا قَلِيلٌ مِّنْهُمْۖ وَلَوْ أَنَّهُمْ فَعَلُواْ مَا يُوعَظُونَ بِهِۦ لَكَانَ خَيْرًا لَّهُمْ وَأَشَدَّ تَثْبِيتًا 66
وَإِذًا لَّأَتَيْنَـٰهُم مِّن لَّدُنَّآ أَجْرًا عَظِيمًا 67
وَلَهَدَيْنَـٰهُمْ صِرَٲطًا مُّسْتَقِيمًا 68
وَمَن يُطِعِ ٱللَّهَ وَٱلرَّسُولَ فَأُوْلَـٰٓئِكَ مَعَ ٱلَّذِينَ أَنْعَمَ ٱللَّهُ عَلَيْهِم مِّنَ ٱلنَّبِيِّــۧنَ وَٱلصِّدِّيقِينَ وَٱلشُّهَدَآءِ وَٱلصَّـٰلِحِينَۚ وَحَسُنَ أُوْلَـٰٓئِكَ رَفِيقًا 69
ذَٲلِكَ ٱلْفَضْلُ مِنَ ٱللَّهِۚ وَكَفَىٰ بِٱللَّهِ عَلِيمًا 70
يَـٰٓأَيُّهَا ٱلَّذِينَ ءَامَنُواْ خُذُواْ حِذْرَكُمْ فَٱنفِرُواْ ثُبَاتٍ أَوِ ٱنفِرُواْ جَمِيعًا 71
وَإِنَّ مِنكُمْ لَمَن لَّيُبَطِّئَنَّ فَإِنْ أَصَـٰبَتْكُم مُّصِيبَةٌ قَالَ قَدْ أَنْعَمَ ٱللَّهُ عَلَىَّ إِذْ لَمْ أَكُن مَّعَهُمْ شَهِيدًا 72
وَلَئِنْ أَصَـٰبَكُمْ فَضْلٌ مِّنَ ٱللَّهِ لَيَقُولَنَّ كَأَن لَّمْ تَكُنۢ بَيْنَكُمْ وَبَيْنَهُۥ مَوَدَّةٌ يَـٰلَيْتَنِى كُنتُ مَعَهُمْ فَأَفُوزَ فَوْزًا عَظِيمًا 73
۞ فَلْيُقَـٰتِلْ فِى سَبِيلِ ٱللَّهِ ٱلَّذِينَ يَشْرُونَ ٱلْحَيَوٲةَ ٱلدُّنْيَا بِٱلْأَخِرَةِۚ وَمَن يُقَـٰتِلْ فِى سَبِيلِ ٱللَّهِ فَيُقْتَلْ أَوْ يَغْلِبْ فَسَوْفَ نُؤْتِيهِ أَجْرًا عَظِيمًا 74
وَلَوْwalawAnd ifأَنَّاannā[that] Weكَتَبْنَاkatabnā(had) decreedعَلَيْهِمْʿalayhimon themأَنِanithatٱقْتُلُوٓا۟uq'tulūKillأَنفُسَكُمْanfusakumyourselvesأَوِawiorٱخْرُجُوا۟ukh'rujūGo forthمِنminfromدِيَـٰرِكُمdiyārikumyour homesمَّاmānotفَعَلُوهُfaʿalūhuthey would have done itإِلَّاillāexceptقَلِيلٌۭqalīluna fewمِّنْهُمْ ۖmin'humof themوَلَوْwalawBut ifأَنَّهُمْannahum[that] theyفَعَلُوا۟faʿalūhad doneمَاmāwhatيُوعَظُونَyūʿaẓūnathey were advisedبِهِۦbihiwith [it]لَكَانَlakānasurely (it) would have beenخَيْرًۭاkhayranbetterلَّهُمْlahumfor themوَأَشَدَّwa-ashaddaand strongerتَثْبِيتًۭاtathbītanstrengthen(ing)
4:66
وَإِذًۭاwa-idhanAnd thenلَّـَٔاتَيْنَـٰهُمlaātaynāhumWe would (have) given themمِّنminfromلَّدُنَّآladunnāOurselvesأَجْرًاajrana rewardعَظِيمًۭاʿaẓīmangreat
4:67
وَلَهَدَيْنَـٰهُمْwalahadaynāhumAnd We would have guided themصِرَٰطًۭاṣirāṭan(to the) wayمُّسْتَقِيمًۭاmus'taqīman(the) straight
4:68
وَمَنwamanAnd whoeverيُطِعِyuṭiʿiobeysٱللَّهَl-lahaAllahوَٱلرَّسُولَwal-rasūlaand the Messengerفَأُو۟لَـٰٓئِكَfa-ulāikathen thoseمَعَmaʿa(will be) withٱلَّذِينَalladhīnathose whomأَنْعَمَanʿamahas bestowed (His) Favorٱللَّهُl-lahuAllahعَلَيْهِمʿalayhimupon them مِّنَminaofٱلنَّبِيِّـۧنَl-nabiyīnathe Prophetsوَٱلصِّدِّيقِينَwal-ṣidīqīnaand the truthfulوَٱلشُّهَدَآءِwal-shuhadāiand the martyrsوَٱلصَّـٰلِحِينَ ۚwal-ṣāliḥīnaand the righteousوَحَسُنَwaḥasunaAnd excellentأُو۟لَـٰٓئِكَulāika(are) thoseرَفِيقًۭاrafīqancompanion(s)
4:69
ذَٰلِكَdhālikaThatٱلْفَضْلُl-faḍlu(is) the Bountyمِنَminaofٱللَّهِ ۚl-lahiAllahوَكَفَىٰwakafāand sufficientبِٱللَّهِbil-lahiAllahعَلِيمًۭاʿalīman(as) All-Knower
4:70
يَـٰٓأَيُّهَاyāayyuhāO youٱلَّذِينَalladhīnawhoءَامَنُوا۟āmanūbelieve[d]خُذُوا۟khudhūTakeحِذْرَكُمْḥidh'rakumyour precautionsفَٱنفِرُوا۟fa-infirūand advanceثُبَاتٍthubātin(in) groupsأَوِawiorٱنفِرُوا۟infirūadvanceجَمِيعًۭاjamīʿanall together
4:71
وَإِنَّwa-innaAnd indeedمِنكُمْminkumamong youلَمَنlaman(is he) whoلَّيُبَطِّئَنَّlayubaṭṭi-annalags behindفَإِنْfa-inthen ifأَصَـٰبَتْكُمaṣābatkumbefalls youمُّصِيبَةٌۭmuṣībatuna disasterقَالَqālahe saidقَدْqadVerilyأَنْعَمَanʿama(has) favoredٱللَّهُl-lahuAllahعَلَىَّʿalayya[on] meإِذْidh[when]لَمْlam(that) notأَكُنakunI wasمَّعَهُمْmaʿahumwith themشَهِيدًۭاshahīdanpresent
4:72
وَلَئِنْwala-inAnd ifأَصَـٰبَكُمْaṣābakumbefalls youفَضْلٌۭfaḍlunbountyمِّنَminafromٱللَّهِl-lahiAllahلَيَقُولَنَّlayaqūlannahe would surely sayكَأَنka-anas ifلَّمْlam(had) notتَكُنۢtakunthere beenبَيْنَكُمْbaynakumbetween youوَبَيْنَهُۥwabaynahuand between himمَوَدَّةٌۭmawaddatunany affectionيَـٰلَيْتَنِىyālaytanīOh! I wishكُنتُkuntuI had beenمَعَهُمْmaʿahumwith themفَأَفُوزَfa-afūzathen I would have attainedفَوْزًاfawzana successعَظِيمًۭاʿaẓīmangreat
4:73
۞ فَلْيُقَـٰتِلْfalyuqātilSo let fightفِىfīinسَبِيلِsabīli(the) wayٱللَّهِl-lahi(of) Allahٱلَّذِينَalladhīnathose whoيَشْرُونَyashrūnasellٱلْحَيَوٰةَl-ḥayatathe lifeٱلدُّنْيَاl-dun'yā(of) the worldبِٱلْـَٔاخِرَةِ ۚbil-ākhiratifor the HereafterوَمَنwamanAnd whoeverيُقَـٰتِلْyuqātilfightsفِىfīinسَبِيلِsabīli(the) wayٱللَّهِl-lahi(of) Allahفَيُقْتَلْfayuq'talthen he is killedأَوْaworيَغْلِبْyaghlibachieves victoryفَسَوْفَfasawfathen soonنُؤْتِيهِnu'tīhiWe will grant himأَجْرًاajrana rewardعَظِيمًۭاʿaẓīmana great
4:74
