ٱلرِّجَالُ قَوَّٲمُونَ عَلَى ٱلنِّسَآءِ بِمَا فَضَّلَ ٱللَّهُ بَعْضَهُمْ عَلَىٰ بَعْضٍ وَبِمَآ أَنفَقُواْ مِنْ أَمْوَٲلِهِمْۚ فَٱلصَّـٰلِحَـٰتُ قَـٰنِتَـٰتٌ حَـٰفِظَـٰتٌ لِّلْغَيْبِ بِمَا حَفِظَ ٱللَّهُۚ وَٱلَّـٰتِى تَخَافُونَ نُشُوزَهُنَّ فَعِظُوهُنَّ وَٱهْجُرُوهُنَّ فِى ٱلْمَضَاجِعِ وَٱضْرِبُوهُنَّۖ فَإِنْ أَطَعْنَكُمْ فَلَا تَبْغُواْ عَلَيْهِنَّ سَبِيلاًۗ إِنَّ ٱللَّهَ كَانَ عَلِيًّا كَبِيرًا 34
وَإِنْ خِفْتُمْ شِقَاقَ بَيْنِهِمَا فَٱبْعَثُواْ حَكَمًا مِّنْ أَهْلِهِۦ وَحَكَمًا مِّنْ أَهْلِهَآ إِن يُرِيدَآ إِصْلَـٰحًا يُوَفِّقِ ٱللَّهُ بَيْنَهُمَآۗ إِنَّ ٱللَّهَ كَانَ عَلِيمًا خَبِيرًا 35
۞ وَٱعْبُدُواْ ٱللَّهَ وَلَا تُشْرِكُواْ بِهِۦ شَيْــًٔاۖ وَبِٱلْوَٲلِدَيْنِ إِحْسَـٰنًا وَبِذِى ٱلْقُرْبَىٰ وَٱلْيَتَـٰمَىٰ وَٱلْمَسَـٰكِينِ وَٱلْجَارِ ذِى ٱلْقُرْبَىٰ وَٱلْجَارِ ٱلْجُنُبِ وَٱلصَّاحِبِ بِٱلْجَنۢبِ وَٱبْنِ ٱلسَّبِيلِ وَمَا مَلَكَتْ أَيْمَـٰنُكُمْۗ إِنَّ ٱللَّهَ لَا يُحِبُّ مَن كَانَ مُخْتَالاً فَخُورًا 36
ٱلَّذِينَ يَبْخَلُونَ وَيَأْمُرُونَ ٱلنَّاسَ بِٱلْبُخْلِ وَيَكْتُمُونَ مَآ ءَاتَـٰهُمُ ٱللَّهُ مِن فَضْلِهِۦۗ وَأَعْتَدْنَا لِلْكَـٰفِرِينَ عَذَابًا مُّهِينًا 37
ٱلرِّجَالُal-rijālu[The] menقَوَّٰمُونَqawwāmūna(are) protectorsعَلَىʿalāofٱلنِّسَآءِl-nisāithe womenبِمَاbimābecauseفَضَّلَfaḍḍala(has) bestowedٱللَّهُl-lahuAllahبَعْضَهُمْbaʿḍahumsome of themعَلَىٰʿalāoverبَعْضٍۢbaʿḍinothersوَبِمَآwabimāand becauseأَنفَقُوا۟anfaqūthey spendمِنْminfromأَمْوَٰلِهِمْ ۚamwālihimtheir wealthفَٱلصَّـٰلِحَـٰتُfal-ṣāliḥātuSo the righteous womenقَـٰنِتَـٰتٌqānitātun(are) obedientحَـٰفِظَـٰتٌۭḥāfiẓātunguardingلِّلْغَيْبِlil'ghaybiin the unseenبِمَاbimāthat whichحَفِظَḥafiẓa(orders) them to guardٱللَّهُ ۚl-lahu(by) Allahوَٱلَّـٰتِىwa-allātīAnd those (from) whomتَخَافُونَtakhāfūnayou fearنُشُوزَهُنَّnushūzahunnatheir ill-conductفَعِظُوهُنَّfaʿiẓūhunnathen advise themوَٱهْجُرُوهُنَّwa-uh'jurūhunnaand forsake themفِىfīinٱلْمَضَاجِعِl-maḍājiʿithe bedوَٱضْرِبُوهُنَّ ۖwa-iḍ'ribūhunnaand [finally] strike themفَإِنْfa-inThen ifأَطَعْنَكُمْaṭaʿnakumthey obey youفَلَاfalāthen (do) notتَبْغُوا۟tabghūseekعَلَيْهِنَّʿalayhinnaagainst themسَبِيلًا ۗsabīlana wayإِنَّinnaIndeedٱللَّهَl-lahaAllahكَانَkānaisعَلِيًّۭاʿaliyyanMost HighكَبِيرًۭاkabīranMost Great
4:34
وَإِنْwa-inAnd ifخِفْتُمْkhif'tumyou fearشِقَاقَshiqāqaa dissensionبَيْنِهِمَاbaynihimābetween (the) two of themفَٱبْعَثُوا۟fa-ib'ʿathūthen sendحَكَمًۭاḥakamanan arbitratorمِّنْminfromأَهْلِهِۦahlihihis familyوَحَكَمًۭاwaḥakamanand an arbitratorمِّنْminfromأَهْلِهَآahlihāher familyإِنinIfيُرِيدَآyurīdāthey both wishإِصْلَـٰحًۭاiṣ'lāḥanreconciliationيُوَفِّقِyuwaffiqiwill cause reconciliationٱللَّهُl-lahuAllahبَيْنَهُمَآ ۗbaynahumābetween both of themإِنَّinnaIndeedٱللَّهَl-lahaAllahكَانَkānaisعَلِيمًاʿalīmanAll-KnowerخَبِيرًۭاkhabīranAll-Aware
4:35
۞ وَٱعْبُدُوا۟wa-uʿ'budūAnd worshipٱللَّهَl-lahaAllahوَلَاwalāAnd (do) notتُشْرِكُوا۟tush'rikūassociateبِهِۦbihiwith Himشَيْـًۭٔا ۖshayananythingوَبِٱلْوَٰلِدَيْنِwabil-wālidayniand to the parentsإِحْسَـٰنًۭاiḥ'sānan(do) goodوَبِذِىwabidhīand withٱلْقُرْبَىٰl-qur'bāthe relativesوَٱلْيَتَـٰمَىٰwal-yatāmāand the orphansوَٱلْمَسَـٰكِينِwal-masākīniand the needyوَٱلْجَارِwal-jāriand the neighborذِىdhī(who is)ٱلْقُرْبَىٰl-qur'bānearوَٱلْجَارِwal-jāriand the neighborٱلْجُنُبِl-junubi(who is) farther awayوَٱلصَّاحِبِwal-ṣāḥibiand the companionبِٱلْجَنۢبِbil-janbiby your sideوَٱبْنِwa-ib'niand theٱلسَّبِيلِl-sabīlitravelerوَمَاwamāand whatمَلَكَتْmalakatpossess[ed]أَيْمَـٰنُكُمْ ۗaymānukumyour right handsإِنَّinnaIndeedٱللَّهَl-lahaAllahلَاlā(does) notيُحِبُّyuḥibbuloveمَنman(the one) whoكَانَkānaisمُخْتَالًۭاmukh'tālan[a] proudفَخُورًاfakhūran(and) [a] boastful
4:36
ٱلَّذِينَalladhīnaThose whoيَبْخَلُونَyabkhalūnaare stingyوَيَأْمُرُونَwayamurūnaand orderٱلنَّاسَl-nāsathe peopleبِٱلْبُخْلِbil-bukh'li[of] stinginessوَيَكْتُمُونَwayaktumūnaand hideمَآmāwhatءَاتَىٰهُمُātāhumu(has) given themٱللَّهُl-lahuAllahمِنminofفَضْلِهِۦ ۗfaḍlihiHis Bounty وَأَعْتَدْنَاwa-aʿtadnāand We (have) preparedلِلْكَـٰفِرِينَlil'kāfirīnafor the disbelieversعَذَابًۭاʿadhābana punishmentمُّهِينًۭاmuhīnanhumiliating
