ٱللَّهُ وَلِىُّ ٱلَّذِينَ ءَامَنُواْ يُخْرِجُهُم مِّنَ ٱلظُّلُمَـٰتِ إِلَى ٱلنُّورِۖ وَٱلَّذِينَ كَفَرُوٓاْ أَوْلِيَآؤُهُمُ ٱلطَّـٰغُوتُ يُخْرِجُونَهُم مِّنَ ٱلنُّورِ إِلَى ٱلظُّلُمَـٰتِۗ أُوْلَـٰٓئِكَ أَصْحَـٰبُ ٱلنَّارِۖ هُمْ فِيهَا خَـٰلِدُونَ 257
أَلَمْ تَرَ إِلَى ٱلَّذِى حَآجَّ إِبْرَٲهِــۧمَ فِى رَبِّهِۦٓ أَنْ ءَاتَـٰهُ ٱللَّهُ ٱلْمُلْكَ إِذْ قَالَ إِبْرَٲهِــۧمُ رَبِّىَ ٱلَّذِى يُحْىِۦ وَيُمِيتُ قَالَ أَنَا۟ أُحْىِۦ وَأُمِيتُۖ قَالَ إِبْرَٲهِــۧمُ فَإِنَّ ٱللَّهَ يَأْتِى بِٱلشَّمْسِ مِنَ ٱلْمَشْرِقِ فَأْتِ بِهَا مِنَ ٱلْمَغْرِبِ فَبُهِتَ ٱلَّذِى كَفَرَۗ وَٱللَّهُ لَا يَهْدِى ٱلْقَوْمَ ٱلظَّـٰلِمِينَ 258
أَوْ كَٱلَّذِى مَرَّ عَلَىٰ قَرْيَةٍ وَهِىَ خَاوِيَةٌ عَلَىٰ عُرُوشِهَا قَالَ أَنَّىٰ يُحْىِۦ هَـٰذِهِ ٱللَّهُ بَعْدَ مَوْتِهَاۖ فَأَمَاتَهُ ٱللَّهُ مِاْئَةَ عَامٍ ثُمَّ بَعَثَهُۥۖ قَالَ كَمْ لَبِثْتَۖ قَالَ لَبِثْتُ يَوْمًا أَوْ بَعْضَ يَوْمٍۖ قَالَ بَل لَّبِثْتَ مِاْئَةَ عَامٍ فَٱنظُرْ إِلَىٰ طَعَامِكَ وَشَرَابِكَ لَمْ يَتَسَنَّهْۖ وَٱنظُرْ إِلَىٰ حِمَارِكَ وَلِنَجْعَلَكَ ءَايَةً لِّلنَّاسِۖ وَٱنظُرْ إِلَى ٱلْعِظَامِ كَيْفَ نُنشِزُهَا ثُمَّ نَكْسُوهَا لَحْمًاۚ فَلَمَّا تَبَيَّنَ لَهُۥ قَالَ أَعْلَمُ أَنَّ ٱللَّهَ عَلَىٰ كُلِّ شَىْءٍ قَدِيرٌ 259
ٱللَّهُal-lahuAllahوَلِىُّwaliyyu(is the) Protecting Guardianٱلَّذِينَalladhīna(of) those whoءَامَنُوا۟āmanūbelieve[d]يُخْرِجُهُمyukh'rijuhumHe brings them outمِّنَminafromٱلظُّلُمَـٰتِl-ẓulumāti[the] darknessإِلَىilātowardsٱلنُّورِ ۖl-nūri[the] lightوَٱلَّذِينَwa-alladhīnaAnd those whoكَفَرُوٓا۟kafarūdisbelieve(d)أَوْلِيَآؤُهُمُawliyāuhumutheir guardiansٱلطَّـٰغُوتُl-ṭāghūtu(are) the evil onesيُخْرِجُونَهُمyukh'rijūnahumthey bring them outمِّنَminafromٱلنُّورِl-nūrithe lightإِلَىilātowardsٱلظُّلُمَـٰتِ ۗl-ẓulumāti[the] darknessأُو۟لَـٰٓئِكَulāikaThoseأَصْحَـٰبُaṣḥābu(are the) companionsٱلنَّارِ ۖl-nāri(of) the Fireهُمْhumtheyفِيهَاfīhāin itخَـٰلِدُونَkhālidūnawill abide forever
2:257
أَلَمْalamDid notتَرَtarayou seeإِلَىilā[towards]ٱلَّذِىalladhīthe one whoحَآجَّḥājjaarguedإِبْرَٰهِـۧمَib'rāhīma(with) Ibrahimفِىfīconcerningرَبِّهِۦٓrabbihihis Lordأَنْanbecauseءَاتَىٰهُātāhugave himٱللَّهُl-lahuAllahٱلْمُلْكَl-mul'kathe kingdomإِذْidhWhenقَالَqālaSaidإِبْرَٰهِـۧمُib'rāhīmuIbrahimرَبِّىَrabbiyaMy Lordٱلَّذِىalladhī(is) the One Whoيُحْىِۦyuḥ'yīgrants lifeوَيُمِيتُwayumītuand causes deathقَالَqālaHe saidأَنَا۠anāIأُحْىِۦuḥ'yīgive lifeوَأُمِيتُ ۖwa-umītuand cause deathقَالَqālaSaidإِبْرَٰهِـۧمُib'rāhīmuIbrahimفَإِنَّfa-inna[Then] indeedٱللَّهَl-lahaAllahيَأْتِىyatībrings upبِٱلشَّمْسِbil-shamsithe sunمِنَminafromٱلْمَشْرِقِl-mashriqithe eastفَأْتِfatiso you bringبِهَاbihāitمِنَminafromٱلْمَغْرِبِl-maghribithe westفَبُهِتَfabuhitaSo became dumbfoundedٱلَّذِىalladhīthe one whoكَفَرَ ۗkafaradisbelievedوَٱللَّهُwal-lahuand Allahلَاlā(does) notيَهْدِىyahdīguideٱلْقَوْمَl-qawmathe peopleٱلظَّـٰلِمِينَl-ẓālimīna(who are) [the] wrongdoers
2:258
أَوْawOrكَٱلَّذِىka-alladhīlike the one whoمَرَّmarrapassedعَلَىٰʿalābyقَرْيَةٍۢqaryatina townshipوَهِىَwahiyaand itخَاوِيَةٌkhāwiyatun(had) overturnedعَلَىٰʿalāonعُرُوشِهَاʿurūshihāits roofsقَالَqālaHe saidأَنَّىٰannāHowيُحْىِۦyuḥ'yī(will) bring to lifeهَـٰذِهِhādhihithis (town)ٱللَّهُl-lahuAllahبَعْدَbaʿdaafterمَوْتِهَا ۖmawtihāits deathفَأَمَاتَهُfa-amātahuThen he was made to dieٱللَّهُl-lahu(by) Allahمِا۟ئَةَmi-ata(for) a hundredعَامٍۢʿāminyear(s)ثُمَّthummathenبَعَثَهُۥ ۖbaʿathahuHe raised himقَالَqālaHe saidكَمْkamHow longلَبِثْتَ ۖlabith'ta(have) you remainedقَالَqālaHe saidلَبِثْتُlabith'tuI remainedيَوْمًاyawman(for) a dayأَوْaworبَعْضَbaʿḍaa partيَوْمٍۢ ۖyawmin(of) a dayقَالَqālaHe saidبَلbalNayلَّبِثْتَlabith'tayou (have) remainedمِا۟ئَةَmi-ataone hundredعَامٍۢʿāminyear(s)فَٱنظُرْfa-unẓurThen lookإِلَىٰilāatطَعَامِكَṭaʿāmikayour foodوَشَرَابِكَwasharābikaand your drinkلَمْlam(they did) notيَتَسَنَّهْ ۖyatasannahchange with timeوَٱنظُرْwa-unẓurand lookإِلَىٰilāatحِمَارِكَḥimārikayour donkeyوَلِنَجْعَلَكَwalinajʿalakaand We will make youءَايَةًۭāyatana signلِّلنَّاسِ ۖlilnnāsifor the peopleوَٱنظُرْwa-unẓurAnd lookإِلَىilāatٱلْعِظَامِl-ʿiẓāmithe bonesكَيْفَkayfahowنُنشِزُهَاnunshizuhāWe raise themثُمَّthummathenنَكْسُوهَاnaksūhāWe cover themلَحْمًۭا ۚlaḥman(with) fleshفَلَمَّاfalammāThen whenتَبَيَّنَtabayyanabecame clearلَهُۥlahuto himقَالَqālahe saidأَعْلَمُaʿlamuI knowأَنَّannathatٱللَّهَl-lahaAllahعَلَىٰʿalā(is) onكُلِّkullieveryشَىْءٍۢshayinthingقَدِيرٌۭqadīrunAll-Powerful
2:259
