فَلَمَّا جَهَّزَهُم بِجَهَازِهِمْ جَعَلَ ٱلسِّقَايَةَ فِى رَحْلِ أَخِيهِ ثُمَّ أَذَّنَ مُؤَذِّنٌ أَيَّتُهَا ٱلْعِيرُ إِنَّكُمْ لَسَـٰرِقُونَ 70
قَالُواْ وَأَقْبَلُواْ عَلَيْهِم مَّاذَا تَفْقِدُونَ 71
قَالُواْ نَفْقِدُ صُوَاعَ ٱلْمَلِكِ وَلِمَن جَآءَ بِهِۦ حِمْلُ بَعِيرٍ وَأَنَا۟ بِهِۦ زَعِيمٌ 72
قَالُواْ تَٱللَّهِ لَقَدْ عَلِمْتُم مَّا جِئْنَا لِنُفْسِدَ فِى ٱلْأَرْضِ وَمَا كُنَّا سَـٰرِقِينَ 73
قَالُواْ فَمَا جَزَٲٓؤُهُۥٓ إِن كُنتُمْ كَـٰذِبِينَ 74
قَالُواْ جَزَٲٓؤُهُۥ مَن وُجِدَ فِى رَحْلِهِۦ فَهُوَ جَزَٲٓؤُهُۥۚ كَذَٲلِكَ نَجْزِى ٱلظَّـٰلِمِينَ 75
فَبَدَأَ بِأَوْعِيَتِهِمْ قَبْلَ وِعَآءِ أَخِيهِ ثُمَّ ٱسْتَخْرَجَهَا مِن وِعَآءِ أَخِيهِۚ كَذَٲلِكَ كِدْنَا لِيُوسُفَۖ مَا كَانَ لِيَأْخُذَ أَخَاهُ فِى دِينِ ٱلْمَلِكِ إِلَّآ أَن يَشَآءَ ٱللَّهُۚ نَرْفَعُ دَرَجَـٰتٍ مَّن نَّشَآءُۗ وَفَوْقَ كُلِّ ذِى عِلْمٍ عَلِيمٌ 76
۞ قَالُوٓاْ إِن يَسْرِقْ فَقَدْ سَرَقَ أَخٌ لَّهُۥ مِن قَبْلُۚ فَأَسَرَّهَا يُوسُفُ فِى نَفْسِهِۦ وَلَمْ يُبْدِهَا لَهُمْۚ قَالَ أَنتُمْ شَرٌّ مَّكَانًاۖ وَٱللَّهُ أَعْلَمُ بِمَا تَصِفُونَ 77
قَالُواْ يَـٰٓأَيُّهَا ٱلْعَزِيزُ إِنَّ لَهُۥٓ أَبًا شَيْخًا كَبِيرًا فَخُذْ أَحَدَنَا مَكَانَهُۥٓۖ إِنَّا نَرَٮٰكَ مِنَ ٱلْمُحْسِنِينَ 78
فَلَمَّاfalammāSo whenجَهَّزَهُمjahhazahumhe had furnished themبِجَهَازِهِمْbijahāzihimwith their suppliesجَعَلَjaʿalahe putٱلسِّقَايَةَl-siqāyatathe drinking cupفِىfīinرَحْلِraḥlithe bagأَخِيهِakhīhi(of) his brotherثُمَّthummaThenأَذَّنَadhanacalled outمُؤَذِّنٌmu-adhinunan announcerأَيَّتُهَاayyatuhāO youٱلْعِيرُl-ʿīru(in) the caravanإِنَّكُمْinnakumIndeed, youلَسَـٰرِقُونَlasāriqūnasurely (are) thieves
12:70
قَالُوا۟qālūThey saidوَأَقْبَلُوا۟wa-aqbalūturning towardsعَلَيْهِمʿalayhimthemمَّاذَاmādhāWhat (is it)تَفْقِدُونَtafqidūnayou miss
12:71
قَالُوا۟qālūThey saidنَفْقِدُnafqiduWe are missingصُوَاعَṣuwāʿa(the) cupٱلْمَلِكِl-maliki(of) the kingوَلِمَنwalimanAnd for (one) whoجَآءَjāabringsبِهِۦbihiitحِمْلُḥim'lu(is) a loadبَعِيرٍۢbaʿīrin(of) a camelوَأَنَا۠wa-anāand Iبِهِۦbihifor itزَعِيمٌۭzaʿīmun(is) responsible
12:72
قَالُوا۟qālūThey saidتَٱللَّهِtal-lahiBy Allahلَقَدْlaqadcertainlyعَلِمْتُمʿalim'tumyou knowمَّاmānotجِئْنَاji'nāwe cameلِنُفْسِدَlinuf'sidathat we cause corruptionفِىfīinٱلْأَرْضِl-arḍithe landوَمَاwamāand notكُنَّاkunnāwe areسَـٰرِقِينَsāriqīnathieves
12:73
قَالُوا۟qālūThey saidفَمَاfamāThen whatجَزَٰٓؤُهُۥٓjazāuhu(will be the) recompense (of) itإِنinifكُنتُمْkuntumyou areكَـٰذِبِينَkādhibīnaliars
12:74
قَالُوا۟qālūThey saidجَزَٰٓؤُهُۥjazāuhuIts recompenseمَنman(is that one) whoوُجِدَwujidait is foundفِىfīinرَحْلِهِۦraḥlihihis bagفَهُوَfahuwathen heجَزَٰٓؤُهُۥ ۚjazāuhu(will be) his recompenseكَذَٰلِكَkadhālikaThusنَجْزِىnajzī(do) we recompenseٱلظَّـٰلِمِينَl-ẓālimīnathe wrongdoers
12:75
فَبَدَأَfabada-aSo he beganبِأَوْعِيَتِهِمْbi-awʿiyatihimwith their bagsقَبْلَqablabeforeوِعَآءِwiʿāi(the) bagأَخِيهِakhīhi(of) his brotherثُمَّthummathenٱسْتَخْرَجَهَاis'takhrajahāhe brought it outمِنminfromوِعَآءِwiʿāi(the) bagأَخِيهِ ۚakhīhi(of) his brotherكَذَٰلِكَkadhālikaThusكِدْنَاkid'nā(did) We planلِيُوسُفَ ۖliyūsufafor YusufمَاmāHe could notكَانَkānaHe could notلِيَأْخُذَliyakhudhatakeأَخَاهُakhāhuhis brotherفِىfībyدِينِdīnithe lawٱلْمَلِكِl-maliki(of) the kingإِلَّآillāexceptأَنanthatيَشَآءَyashāaAllah willedٱللَّهُ ۚl-lahuAllah willedنَرْفَعُnarfaʿuWe raiseدَرَجَـٰتٍۢdarajātin(in) degreesمَّنmanwhomنَّشَآءُ ۗnashāuWe willوَفَوْقَwafawqabut overكُلِّkullieveryذِىdhīpossessorعِلْمٍʿil'min(of) knowledgeعَلِيمٌۭʿalīmun(is) the All-Knower
12:76
۞ قَالُوٓا۟qālūThey saidإِنinIfيَسْرِقْyasriqhe steals فَقَدْfaqadthen verilyسَرَقَsaraqastoleأَخٌۭakhuna brotherلَّهُۥlahuof hisمِنminbeforeقَبْلُ ۚqablubeforeفَأَسَرَّهَاfa-asarrahāBut Yusuf kept it secretيُوسُفُyūsufuBut Yusuf kept it secretفِىfīwithinنَفْسِهِۦnafsihihimselfوَلَمْwalamand (did) notيُبْدِهَاyub'dihāreveal itلَهُمْ ۚlahumto themقَالَqālaHe saidأَنتُمْantumYouشَرٌّۭsharrun(are the) worseمَّكَانًۭا ۖmakānan(in) positionوَٱللَّهُwal-lahuand Allahأَعْلَمُaʿlamuknows bestبِمَاbimāof whatتَصِفُونَtaṣifūnayou describe
12:77
قَالُوا۟qālūThey saidيَـٰٓأَيُّهَاyāayyuhāOٱلْعَزِيزُl-ʿazīzuAzizإِنَّinnaIndeedلَهُۥٓlahuhe hasأَبًۭاabana fatherشَيْخًۭاshaykhanoldكَبِيرًۭاkabīran[great]فَخُذْfakhudhso takeأَحَدَنَاaḥadanāone of usمَكَانَهُۥٓ ۖmakānahu(in) his placeإِنَّاinnāIndeed, weنَرَىٰكَnarāka[we] see youمِنَminaofٱلْمُحْسِنِينَl-muḥ'sinīnathe good-doers
12:78
