وَقَالُواْ كُونُواْ هُودًا أَوْ نَصَـٰرَىٰ تَهْتَدُواْۗ قُلْ بَلْ مِلَّةَ إِبْرَٲهِــۧمَ حَنِيفًاۖ وَمَا كَانَ مِنَ ٱلْمُشْرِكِينَ 135
قُولُوٓاْ ءَامَنَّا بِٱللَّهِ وَمَآ أُنزِلَ إِلَيْنَا وَمَآ أُنزِلَ إِلَىٰٓ إِبْرَٲهِــۧمَ وَإِسْمَـٰعِيلَ وَإِسْحَـٰقَ وَيَعْقُوبَ وَٱلْأَسْبَاطِ وَمَآ أُوتِىَ مُوسَىٰ وَعِيسَىٰ وَمَآ أُوتِىَ ٱلنَّبِيُّونَ مِن رَّبِّهِمْ لَا نُفَرِّقُ بَيْنَ أَحَدٍ مِّنْهُمْ وَنَحْنُ لَهُۥ مُسْلِمُونَ 136
فَإِنْ ءَامَنُواْ بِمِثْلِ مَآ ءَامَنتُم بِهِۦ فَقَدِ ٱهْتَدَواْۖ وَّإِن تَوَلَّوْاْ فَإِنَّمَا هُمْ فِى شِقَاقٍۖ فَسَيَكْفِيكَهُمُ ٱللَّهُۚ وَهُوَ ٱلسَّمِيعُ ٱلْعَلِيمُ 137
صِبْغَةَ ٱللَّهِۖ وَمَنْ أَحْسَنُ مِنَ ٱللَّهِ صِبْغَةًۖ وَنَحْنُ لَهُۥ عَـٰبِدُونَ 138
قُلْ أَتُحَآجُّونَنَا فِى ٱللَّهِ وَهُوَ رَبُّنَا وَرَبُّكُمْ وَلَنَآ أَعْمَـٰلُنَا وَلَكُمْ أَعْمَـٰلُكُمْ وَنَحْنُ لَهُۥ مُخْلِصُونَ 139
أَمْ تَقُولُونَ إِنَّ إِبْرَٲهِــۧمَ وَإِسْمَـٰعِيلَ وَإِسْحَـٰقَ وَيَعْقُوبَ وَٱلْأَسْبَاطَ كَانُواْ هُودًا أَوْ نَصَـٰرَىٰۗ قُلْ ءَأَنتُمْ أَعْلَمُ أَمِ ٱللَّهُۗ وَمَنْ أَظْلَمُ مِمَّن كَتَمَ شَهَـٰدَةً عِندَهُۥ مِنَ ٱللَّهِۗ وَمَا ٱللَّهُ بِغَـٰفِلٍ عَمَّا تَعْمَلُونَ 140
تِلْكَ أُمَّةٌ قَدْ خَلَتْۖ لَهَا مَا كَسَبَتْ وَلَكُم مَّا كَسَبْتُمْۖ وَلَا تُسْــَٔلُونَ عَمَّا كَانُواْ يَعْمَلُونَ 141
وَقَالُوا۟waqālūAnd they saidكُونُوا۟kūnūBeهُودًاhūdanJewsأَوْaworنَصَـٰرَىٰnaṣārāChristiansتَهْتَدُوا۟ ۗtahtadū(then) you will be guidedقُلْqulSayبَلْbalNayمِلَّةَmillata(the) religionإِبْرَٰهِـۧمَib'rāhīma(of) Ibrahimحَنِيفًۭا ۖḥanīfan(the) uprightوَمَاwamāand notكَانَkānahe wasمِنَminaofٱلْمُشْرِكِينَl-mush'rikīnathose who associated partners (with Allah)
2:135
قُولُوٓا۟qūlūSayءَامَنَّاāmannāWe have believedبِٱللَّهِbil-lahiin Allahوَمَآwamāand whatأُنزِلَunzila(is) revealedإِلَيْنَاilaynāto usوَمَآwamāand whatأُنزِلَunzilawas revealedإِلَىٰٓilātoإِبْرَٰهِـۧمَib'rāhīmaIbrahimوَإِسْمَـٰعِيلَwa-is'māʿīlaand Ishmaelوَإِسْحَـٰقَwa-is'ḥāqaand Isaacوَيَعْقُوبَwayaʿqūbaand Yaqubوَٱلْأَسْبَاطِwal-asbāṭiand the descendantsوَمَآwamāand whatأُوتِىَūtiyawas givenمُوسَىٰmūsā(to) Musaوَعِيسَىٰwaʿīsāand Isaوَمَآwamāand whatأُوتِىَūtiyawas givenٱلنَّبِيُّونَl-nabiyūna(to) the Prophetsمِنminfromرَّبِّهِمْrabbihimtheir LordلَاlāNotنُفَرِّقُnufarriquwe make distinctionبَيْنَbaynabetweenأَحَدٍۢaḥadinanyمِّنْهُمْmin'humof themوَنَحْنُwanaḥnuAnd weلَهُۥlahuto Himمُسْلِمُونَmus'limūna(are) submissive
2:136
فَإِنْfa-inSo ifءَامَنُوا۟āmanūthey believe[d]بِمِثْلِbimith'liin (the) likeمَآmā(of) whatءَامَنتُمāmantumyou have believedبِهِۦbihiin [it]فَقَدِfaqadithen indeedٱهْتَدَوا۟ ۖih'tadawthey are (rightly) guidedوَّإِنwa-inBut ifتَوَلَّوْا۟tawallawthey turn awayفَإِنَّمَاfa-innamāthen onlyهُمْhumtheyفِىfī(are) inشِقَاقٍۢ ۖshiqāqindissensionفَسَيَكْفِيكَهُمُfasayakfīkahumuSo will suffice you against themٱللَّهُ ۚl-lahuAllahوَهُوَwahuwaand Heٱلسَّمِيعُl-samīʿu(is) the All-Hearingٱلْعَلِيمُl-ʿalīmuthe All-Knowing
2:137
صِبْغَةَṣib'ghata(The) color (religion)ٱللَّهِ ۖl-lahi(of) AllahوَمَنْwamanAnd whoأَحْسَنُaḥsanu(is) betterمِنَminathanٱللَّهِl-lahiAllahصِبْغَةًۭ ۖṣib'ghatanat coloringوَنَحْنُwanaḥnuAnd weلَهُۥlahuto Himعَـٰبِدُونَʿābidūna(are) worshippers
2:138
قُلْqulSayأَتُحَآجُّونَنَاatuḥājjūnanāDo you argue with usفِىfīaboutٱللَّهِl-lahiAllahوَهُوَwahuwawhile Heرَبُّنَاrabbunā(is) our Lordوَرَبُّكُمْwarabbukumand your LordوَلَنَآwalanāAnd for usأَعْمَـٰلُنَاaʿmālunā(are) our deedsوَلَكُمْwalakumand for youأَعْمَـٰلُكُمْaʿmālukum(are) your deedsوَنَحْنُwanaḥnuand weلَهُۥlahuto Himمُخْلِصُونَmukh'liṣūna(are) sincere
2:139
أَمْamOrتَقُولُونَtaqūlūna(do) you sayإِنَّinnathatإِبْرَٰهِـۧمَib'rāhīmaIbrahimوَإِسْمَـٰعِيلَwa-is'māʿīlaand Ishmaelوَإِسْحَـٰقَwa-is'ḥāqaand Isaacوَيَعْقُوبَwayaʿqūbaand Yaqubوَٱلْأَسْبَاطَwal-asbāṭaand the descendantsكَانُوا۟kānūwereهُودًاhūdanJewsأَوْaworنَصَـٰرَىٰ ۗnaṣārāChristiansقُلْqulSayءَأَنتُمْa-antumAre youأَعْلَمُaʿlamubetter knowingأَمِamiorٱللَّهُ ۗl-lahu(is) AllahوَمَنْwamanAnd whoأَظْلَمُaẓlamu(is) more unjustمِمَّنmimmanthan (the one) whoكَتَمَkatamaconcealedشَهَـٰدَةًshahādatana testimonyعِندَهُۥʿindahu(that) he hasمِنَminafromٱللَّهِ ۗl-lahiAllahوَمَاwamāAnd notٱللَّهُl-lahu(is) Allahبِغَـٰفِلٍbighāfilinunawareعَمَّاʿammāof whatتَعْمَلُونَtaʿmalūnayou do
2:140
تِلْكَtil'kaThisأُمَّةٌۭummatun(was) a communityقَدْqad(which)خَلَتْ ۖkhalathas passed awayلَهَاlahāfor itمَاmāwhatكَسَبَتْkasabatit earnedوَلَكُمwalakumand for youمَّاmāwhatكَسَبْتُمْ ۖkasabtumyou have earnedوَلَاwalāAnd notتُسْـَٔلُونَtus'alūnayou will be askedعَمَّاʿammāabout whatكَانُوا۟kānūthey used toيَعْمَلُونَyaʿmalūnado
2:141
