۞ إِنَّمَا يَسْتَجِيبُ ٱلَّذِينَ يَسْمَعُونَۘ وَٱلْمَوْتَىٰ يَبْعَثُهُمُ ٱللَّهُ ثُمَّ إِلَيْهِ يُرْجَعُونَ 36
وَقَالُواْ لَوْلَا نُزِّلَ عَلَيْهِ ءَايَةٌ مِّن رَّبِّهِۦۚ قُلْ إِنَّ ٱللَّهَ قَادِرٌ عَلَىٰٓ أَن يُنَزِّلَ ءَايَةً وَلَـٰكِنَّ أَكْثَرَهُمْ لَا يَعْلَمُونَ 37
وَمَا مِن دَآبَّةٍ فِى ٱلْأَرْضِ وَلَا طَـٰٓئِرٍ يَطِيرُ بِجَنَاحَيْهِ إِلَّآ أُمَمٌ أَمْثَالُكُمۚ مَّا فَرَّطْنَا فِى ٱلْكِتَـٰبِ مِن شَىْءٍۚ ثُمَّ إِلَىٰ رَبِّهِمْ يُحْشَرُونَ 38
وَٱلَّذِينَ كَذَّبُواْ بِـَٔـايَـٰتِنَا صُمٌّ وَبُكْمٌ فِى ٱلظُّلُمَـٰتِۗ مَن يَشَإِ ٱللَّهُ يُضْلِلْهُ وَمَن يَشَأْ يَجْعَلْهُ عَلَىٰ صِرَٲطٍ مُّسْتَقِيمٍ 39
قُلْ أَرَءَيْتَكُمْ إِنْ أَتَـٰكُمْ عَذَابُ ٱللَّهِ أَوْ أَتَتْكُمُ ٱلسَّاعَةُ أَغَيْرَ ٱللَّهِ تَدْعُونَ إِن كُنتُمْ صَـٰدِقِينَ 40
بَلْ إِيَّاهُ تَدْعُونَ فَيَكْشِفُ مَا تَدْعُونَ إِلَيْهِ إِن شَآءَ وَتَنسَوْنَ مَا تُشْرِكُونَ 41
وَلَقَدْ أَرْسَلْنَآ إِلَىٰٓ أُمَمٍ مِّن قَبْلِكَ فَأَخَذْنَـٰهُم بِٱلْبَأْسَآءِ وَٱلضَّرَّآءِ لَعَلَّهُمْ يَتَضَرَّعُونَ 42
فَلَوْلَآ إِذْ جَآءَهُم بَأْسُنَا تَضَرَّعُواْ وَلَـٰكِن قَسَتْ قُلُوبُهُمْ وَزَيَّنَ لَهُمُ ٱلشَّيْطَـٰنُ مَا كَانُواْ يَعْمَلُونَ 43
فَلَمَّا نَسُواْ مَا ذُكِّرُواْ بِهِۦ فَتَحْنَا عَلَيْهِمْ أَبْوَٲبَ كُلِّ شَىْءٍ حَتَّىٰٓ إِذَا فَرِحُواْ بِمَآ أُوتُوٓاْ أَخَذْنَـٰهُم بَغْتَةً فَإِذَا هُم مُّبْلِسُونَ 44
۞ إِنَّمَاinnamāOnlyيَسْتَجِيبُyastajīburespondٱلَّذِينَalladhīnathose whoيَسْمَعُونَ ۘyasmaʿūnalistenوَٱلْمَوْتَىٰwal-mawtāBut the dead يَبْعَثُهُمُyabʿathuhumuwill resurrect themٱللَّهُl-lahuAllahثُمَّthummathenإِلَيْهِilayhito Himيُرْجَعُونَyur'jaʿūnathey will be returned
6:36
وَقَالُوا۟waqālūAnd they saidلَوْلَاlawlāWhy (is) notنُزِّلَnuzzilasent downعَلَيْهِʿalayhito himءَايَةٌۭāyatuna Signمِّنminfromرَّبِّهِۦ ۚrabbihihis LordقُلْqulSayإِنَّinnaIndeedٱللَّهَl-lahaAllahقَادِرٌqādirun(is) Ableعَلَىٰٓʿalā[on]أَنantoيُنَزِّلَyunazzilasend downءَايَةًۭāyatana Signوَلَـٰكِنَّwalākinnabutأَكْثَرَهُمْaktharahummost of themلَاlā(do) notيَعْلَمُونَyaʿlamūnaknow
6:37
وَمَاwamāAnd notمِنmin[of]دَآبَّةٍۢdābbatinany animalفِىfīinٱلْأَرْضِl-arḍithe earthوَلَاwalāand notطَـٰٓئِرٍۢṭāirina birdيَطِيرُyaṭīru(that) fliesبِجَنَاحَيْهِbijanāḥayhiwith its wings إِلَّآillābutأُمَمٌumamun(are) communitiesأَمْثَالُكُم ۚamthālukumlike youمَّاmāNotفَرَّطْنَاfarraṭnāWe have neglectedفِىfīinٱلْكِتَـٰبِl-kitābithe Bookمِنmin[of]شَىْءٍۢ ۚshayinanythingثُمَّthummathenإِلَىٰilātoرَبِّهِمْrabbihimtheir Lordيُحْشَرُونَyuḥ'sharūnathey will be gathered
6:38
وَٱلَّذِينَwa-alladhīnaAnd those whoكَذَّبُوا۟kadhabūrejectedبِـَٔايَـٰتِنَاbiāyātināOur Versesصُمٌّۭṣummun(are) deafوَبُكْمٌۭwabuk'munand dumbفِىfīinٱلظُّلُمَـٰتِ ۗl-ẓulumātithe darkness[es]مَنmanWhoeverيَشَإِyasha-iwillsٱللَّهُl-lahuAllah يُضْلِلْهُyuḍ'lil'huHe lets him go astrayوَمَنwamanand whoeverيَشَأْyashaHe wills يَجْعَلْهُyajʿalhuHe places himعَلَىٰʿalāonصِرَٰطٍۢṣirāṭin(the) wayمُّسْتَقِيمٍۢmus'taqīmin(the) straight
6:39
قُلْqulSayأَرَءَيْتَكُمْara-aytakumHave you seenإِنْinifأَتَىٰكُمْatākum(there) came to youعَذَابُʿadhābupunishmentٱللَّهِl-lahi(of) Allahأَوْaworأَتَتْكُمُatatkumu(there) came to youٱلسَّاعَةُl-sāʿatuthe Hour أَغَيْرَaghayrais it otherٱللَّهِl-lahi(than) Allahتَدْعُونَtadʿūnayou callإِنinifكُنتُمْkuntumyou areصَـٰدِقِينَṣādiqīnatruthful
6:40
بَلْbalNayإِيَّاهُiyyāhuHim Aloneتَدْعُونَtadʿūnayou callفَيَكْشِفُfayakshifuand He would removeمَاmāwhatتَدْعُونَtadʿūnayou callإِلَيْهِilayhiupon HimإِنinifشَآءَshāaHe willsوَتَنسَوْنَwatansawnaand you will forgetمَاmāwhatتُشْرِكُونَtush'rikūnayou associate (with Him)
6:41
وَلَقَدْwalaqadAnd certainlyأَرْسَلْنَآarsalnāWe sent (Messengers)إِلَىٰٓilātoأُمَمٍۢumaminnationsمِّنminfromقَبْلِكَqablikabefore youفَأَخَذْنَـٰهُمfa-akhadhnāhumthen We seized themبِٱلْبَأْسَآءِbil-basāiwith adversityوَٱلضَّرَّآءِwal-ḍarāiand hardshipلَعَلَّهُمْlaʿallahumso that they mayيَتَضَرَّعُونَyataḍarraʿūnahumble themselves
6:42
فَلَوْلَآfalawlāThen why notإِذْidhwhenجَآءَهُمjāahumcame to themبَأْسُنَاbasunāOur punishmentتَضَرَّعُوا۟taḍarraʿūthey humbled themselvesوَلَـٰكِنwalākinButقَسَتْqasatbecame hardenedقُلُوبُهُمْqulūbuhumtheir heartsوَزَيَّنَwazayyanaand made fair-seemingلَهُمُlahumuto themٱلشَّيْطَـٰنُl-shayṭānuthe Shaitaanمَاmāwhatكَانُوا۟kānūthey used toيَعْمَلُونَyaʿmalūnado
6:43
فَلَمَّاfalammāSo whenنَسُوا۟nasūthey forgotمَاmāwhatذُكِّرُوا۟dhukkirūthey were remindedبِهِۦbihiof [it]فَتَحْنَاfataḥnāWe openedعَلَيْهِمْʿalayhimon themأَبْوَٰبَabwābagatesكُلِّkulli(of) everyشَىْءٍshayinthingحَتَّىٰٓḥattāuntilإِذَاidhāwhenفَرِحُوا۟fariḥūthey rejoicedبِمَآbimāin whatأُوتُوٓا۟ūtūthey were givenأَخَذْنَـٰهُمakhadhnāhumWe seized themبَغْتَةًۭbaghtatansuddenlyفَإِذَاfa-idhāand thenهُمhumtheyمُّبْلِسُونَmub'lisūna(were) dumbfounded
6:44
