بَرَآءَةٌ مِّنَ ٱللَّهِ وَرَسُولِهِۦٓ إِلَى ٱلَّذِينَ عَـٰهَدتُّم مِّنَ ٱلْمُشْرِكِينَ 1
فَسِيحُواْ فِى ٱلْأَرْضِ أَرْبَعَةَ أَشْهُرٍ وَٱعْلَمُوٓاْ أَنَّكُمْ غَيْرُ مُعْجِزِى ٱللَّهِۙ وَأَنَّ ٱللَّهَ مُخْزِى ٱلْكَـٰفِرِينَ 2
وَأَذَٲنٌ مِّنَ ٱللَّهِ وَرَسُولِهِۦٓ إِلَى ٱلنَّاسِ يَوْمَ ٱلْحَجِّ ٱلْأَكْبَرِ أَنَّ ٱللَّهَ بَرِىٓءٌ مِّنَ ٱلْمُشْرِكِينَۙ وَرَسُولُهُۥۚ فَإِن تُبْتُمْ فَهُوَ خَيْرٌ لَّكُمْۖ وَإِن تَوَلَّيْتُمْ فَٱعْلَمُوٓاْ أَنَّكُمْ غَيْرُ مُعْجِزِى ٱللَّهِۗ وَبَشِّرِ ٱلَّذِينَ كَفَرُواْ بِعَذَابٍ أَلِيمٍ 3
إِلَّا ٱلَّذِينَ عَـٰهَدتُّم مِّنَ ٱلْمُشْرِكِينَ ثُمَّ لَمْ يَنقُصُوكُمْ شَيْــًٔا وَلَمْ يُظَـٰهِرُواْ عَلَيْكُمْ أَحَدًا فَأَتِمُّوٓاْ إِلَيْهِمْ عَهْدَهُمْ إِلَىٰ مُدَّتِهِمْۚ إِنَّ ٱللَّهَ يُحِبُّ ٱلْمُتَّقِينَ 4
فَإِذَا ٱنسَلَخَ ٱلْأَشْهُرُ ٱلْحُرُمُ فَٱقْتُلُواْ ٱلْمُشْرِكِينَ حَيْثُ وَجَدتُّمُوهُمْ وَخُذُوهُمْ وَٱحْصُرُوهُمْ وَٱقْعُدُواْ لَهُمْ كُلَّ مَرْصَدٍۚ فَإِن تَابُواْ وَأَقَامُواْ ٱلصَّلَوٲةَ وَءَاتَوُاْ ٱلزَّكَوٲةَ فَخَلُّواْ سَبِيلَهُمْۚ إِنَّ ٱللَّهَ غَفُورٌ رَّحِيمٌ 5
وَإِنْ أَحَدٌ مِّنَ ٱلْمُشْرِكِينَ ٱسْتَجَارَكَ فَأَجِرْهُ حَتَّىٰ يَسْمَعَ كَلَـٰمَ ٱللَّهِ ثُمَّ أَبْلِغْهُ مَأْمَنَهُۥۚ ذَٲلِكَ بِأَنَّهُمْ قَوْمٌ لَّا يَعْلَمُونَ 6
بَرَآءَةٌۭbarāatunFreedom from obligationsمِّنَminafromٱللَّهِl-lahiAllahوَرَسُولِهِۦٓwarasūlihiand His Messengerإِلَىilātoٱلَّذِينَalladhīnathose (with) whomعَـٰهَدتُّمʿāhadttumyou made a covenantمِّنَminafromٱلْمُشْرِكِينَl-mush'rikīnathe polytheists
9:1
فَسِيحُوا۟fasīḥūSo move aboutفِىfīinٱلْأَرْضِl-arḍithe landأَرْبَعَةَarbaʿata(during) fourأَشْهُرٍۢashhurinmonthsوَٱعْلَمُوٓا۟wa-iʿ'lamūbut knowأَنَّكُمْannakumthat youغَيْرُghayru(can) notمُعْجِزِىmuʿ'jizīescapeٱللَّهِ ۙl-lahiAllahوَأَنَّwa-annaand thatٱللَّهَl-lahaAllahمُخْزِىmukh'zī(is) the One Who (will) disgraceٱلْكَـٰفِرِينَl-kāfirīnathe disbelievers
9:2
وَأَذَٰنٌۭwa-adhānunAnd an announcementمِّنَminafrom Allahٱللَّهِl-lahifrom Allahوَرَسُولِهِۦٓwarasūlihiand His Messengerإِلَىilātoٱلنَّاسِl-nāsithe peopleيَوْمَyawma(on the) dayٱلْحَجِّl-ḥaji(of) the greater Pilgrimageٱلْأَكْبَرِl-akbari(of) the greater Pilgrimageأَنَّannathatٱللَّهَl-lahaAllahبَرِىٓءٌۭbarīon(is) free from obligationsمِّنَmina[of]ٱلْمُشْرِكِينَ ۙl-mush'rikīna(to) the polytheistsوَرَسُولُهُۥ ۚwarasūluhuand (so is) His Messengerفَإِنfa-inSo ifتُبْتُمْtub'tumyou repentفَهُوَfahuwathen, it isخَيْرٌۭkhayrunbestلَّكُمْ ۖlakumfor youوَإِنwa-inBut ifتَوَلَّيْتُمْtawallaytumyou turn awayفَٱعْلَمُوٓا۟fa-iʿ'lamūthen knowأَنَّكُمْannakumthat youغَيْرُghayru(can) notمُعْجِزِىmuʿ'jizīescapeٱللَّهِ ۗl-lahiAllahوَبَشِّرِwabashiriAnd give glad tidingsٱلَّذِينَalladhīna(to) those whoكَفَرُوا۟kafarūdisbelieveبِعَذَابٍbiʿadhābinof a punishmentأَلِيمٍalīminpainful
9:3
إِلَّاillāExceptٱلَّذِينَalladhīnathose (with) whomعَـٰهَدتُّمʿāhadttumyou have a covenantمِّنَminaamongٱلْمُشْرِكِينَl-mush'rikīnathe polytheistsثُمَّthummathenلَمْlamnotيَنقُصُوكُمْyanquṣūkumthey have failed youشَيْـًۭٔاshayan(in any) thingوَلَمْwalamand notيُظَـٰهِرُوا۟yuẓāhirūthey have supportedعَلَيْكُمْʿalaykumagainst youأَحَدًۭاaḥadananyoneفَأَتِمُّوٓا۟fa-atimmūso fulfilإِلَيْهِمْilayhimto themعَهْدَهُمْʿahdahumtheir treatyإِلَىٰilātillمُدَّتِهِمْ ۚmuddatihimtheir termإِنَّinnaIndeedٱللَّهَl-lahaAllahيُحِبُّyuḥibbulovesٱلْمُتَّقِينَl-mutaqīnathe righteous
9:4
فَإِذَاfa-idhāThen whenٱنسَلَخَinsalakhahave passedٱلْأَشْهُرُl-ashhuruthe sacred monthsٱلْحُرُمُl-ḥurumuthe sacred monthsفَٱقْتُلُوا۟fa-uq'tulūthen killٱلْمُشْرِكِينَl-mush'rikīnathe polytheistsحَيْثُḥaythuwhereverوَجَدتُّمُوهُمْwajadttumūhumyou find themوَخُذُوهُمْwakhudhūhumand seize themوَٱحْصُرُوهُمْwa-uḥ'ṣurūhumand besiege themوَٱقْعُدُوا۟wa-uq'ʿudūand sit (in wait)لَهُمْlahumfor themكُلَّkulla(at) everyمَرْصَدٍۢ ۚmarṣadinplace of ambushفَإِنfa-inBut ifتَابُوا۟tābūthey repentوَأَقَامُوا۟wa-aqāmūand establishٱلصَّلَوٰةَl-ṣalatathe prayerوَءَاتَوُا۟waātawūand giveٱلزَّكَوٰةَl-zakatathe zakahفَخَلُّوا۟fakhallūthen leaveسَبِيلَهُمْ ۚsabīlahumtheir wayإِنَّinnaIndeedٱللَّهَl-lahaAllahغَفُورٌۭghafūrun(is) Oft-ForgivingرَّحِيمٌۭraḥīmunMost Merciful
9:5
وَإِنْwa-inAnd ifأَحَدٌۭaḥadunanyoneمِّنَminaofٱلْمُشْرِكِينَl-mush'rikīnathe polytheistsٱسْتَجَارَكَis'tajārakaseek your protectionفَأَجِرْهُfa-ajir'huthen grant him protectionحَتَّىٰḥattāuntilيَسْمَعَyasmaʿahe hearsكَلَـٰمَkalāma(the) Words of Allahٱللَّهِl-lahi(the) Words of AllahثُمَّthummaThenأَبْلِغْهُabligh'huescort himمَأْمَنَهُۥ ۚmamanahu(to) his place of safetyذَٰلِكَdhālikaThatبِأَنَّهُمْbi-annahum(is) because theyقَوْمٌۭqawmun(are) a peopleلَّاlā(who) do not knowيَعْلَمُونَyaʿlamūna(who) do not know
9:6
