يَـٰٓأَهْلَ ٱلْكِتَـٰبِ لِمَ تَلْبِسُونَ ٱلْحَقَّ بِٱلْبَـٰطِلِ وَتَكْتُمُونَ ٱلْحَقَّ وَأَنتُمْ تَعْلَمُونَ 71
وَقَالَت طَّآئِفَةٌ مِّنْ أَهْلِ ٱلْكِتَـٰبِ ءَامِنُواْ بِٱلَّذِىٓ أُنزِلَ عَلَى ٱلَّذِينَ ءَامَنُواْ وَجْهَ ٱلنَّهَارِ وَٱكْفُرُوٓاْ ءَاخِرَهُۥ لَعَلَّهُمْ يَرْجِعُونَ 72
وَلَا تُؤْمِنُوٓاْ إِلَّا لِمَن تَبِعَ دِينَكُمْ قُلْ إِنَّ ٱلْهُدَىٰ هُدَى ٱللَّهِ أَن يُؤْتَىٰٓ أَحَدٌ مِّثْلَ مَآ أُوتِيتُمْ أَوْ يُحَآجُّوكُمْ عِندَ رَبِّكُمْۗ قُلْ إِنَّ ٱلْفَضْلَ بِيَدِ ٱللَّهِ يُؤْتِيهِ مَن يَشَآءُۗ وَٱللَّهُ وَٲسِعٌ عَلِيمٌ 73
يَخْتَصُّ بِرَحْمَتِهِۦ مَن يَشَآءُۗ وَٱللَّهُ ذُو ٱلْفَضْلِ ٱلْعَظِيمِ 74
۞ وَمِنْ أَهْلِ ٱلْكِتَـٰبِ مَنْ إِن تَأْمَنْهُ بِقِنطَارٍ يُؤَدِّهِۦٓ إِلَيْكَ وَمِنْهُم مَّنْ إِن تَأْمَنْهُ بِدِينَارٍ لَّا يُؤَدِّهِۦٓ إِلَيْكَ إِلَّا مَا دُمْتَ عَلَيْهِ قَآئِمًاۗ ذَٲلِكَ بِأَنَّهُمْ قَالُواْ لَيْسَ عَلَيْنَا فِى ٱلْأُمِّيِّــۧنَ سَبِيلٌ وَيَقُولُونَ عَلَى ٱللَّهِ ٱلْكَذِبَ وَهُمْ يَعْلَمُونَ 75
بَلَىٰ مَنْ أَوْفَىٰ بِعَهْدِهِۦ وَٱتَّقَىٰ فَإِنَّ ٱللَّهَ يُحِبُّ ٱلْمُتَّقِينَ 76
إِنَّ ٱلَّذِينَ يَشْتَرُونَ بِعَهْدِ ٱللَّهِ وَأَيْمَـٰنِهِمْ ثَمَنًا قَلِيلاً أُوْلَـٰٓئِكَ لَا خَلَـٰقَ لَهُمْ فِى ٱلْأَخِرَةِ وَلَا يُكَلِّمُهُمُ ٱللَّهُ وَلَا يَنظُرُ إِلَيْهِمْ يَوْمَ ٱلْقِيَـٰمَةِ وَلَا يُزَكِّيهِمْ وَلَهُمْ عَذَابٌ أَلِيمٌ 77
يَـٰٓأَهْلَyāahlaO Peopleٱلْكِتَـٰبِl-kitābi(of) the BookلِمَlimaWhyتَلْبِسُونَtalbisūnado you mixٱلْحَقَّl-ḥaqathe truthبِٱلْبَـٰطِلِbil-bāṭiliwith the falsehoodوَتَكْتُمُونَwataktumūnaand concealٱلْحَقَّl-ḥaqathe truthوَأَنتُمْwa-antumwhile youتَعْلَمُونَtaʿlamūnaknow
3:71
وَقَالَتwaqālatAnd saidطَّآئِفَةٌۭṭāifatuna groupمِّنْminofأَهْلِahli(the) Peopleٱلْكِتَـٰبِl-kitābi(of) the Bookءَامِنُوا۟āminūBelieveبِٱلَّذِىٓbi-alladhīin whatأُنزِلَunzilawas revealedعَلَىʿalāonٱلَّذِينَalladhīnathose whoءَامَنُوا۟āmanūbelieve[d]وَجْهَwajha(at the) beginningٱلنَّهَارِl-nahāri(of) the dayوَٱكْفُرُوٓا۟wa-uk'furūand rejectءَاخِرَهُۥākhirahu(at) its endلَعَلَّهُمْlaʿallahumperhaps they mayيَرْجِعُونَyarjiʿūnareturn
3:72
وَلَاwalāAnd (do) notتُؤْمِنُوٓا۟tu'minūbelieveإِلَّاillāexceptلِمَنliman(the one) whoتَبِعَtabiʿafollowsدِينَكُمْdīnakumyour religionقُلْqulSayإِنَّinnaIndeedٱلْهُدَىٰl-hudāthe (true) guidanceهُدَىhudā(is the) Guidanceٱللَّهِl-lahi(of) Allah أَنanlestيُؤْتَىٰٓyu'tāis givenأَحَدٌۭaḥadun(to) one مِّثْلَmith'la(the) likeمَآmā(of) whatأُوتِيتُمْūtītumwas given to youأَوْaworيُحَآجُّوكُمْyuḥājjūkumthey may argue with youعِندَʿindanearرَبِّكُمْ ۗrabbikumyour LordقُلْqulSayإِنَّinnaIndeedٱلْفَضْلَl-faḍlathe Bountyبِيَدِbiyadi(is) in the Handٱللَّهِl-lahi(of) Allahيُؤْتِيهِyu'tīhiHe gives itمَنman(to) whomيَشَآءُ ۗyashāuHe willsوَٱللَّهُwal-lahuand Allahوَٰسِعٌwāsiʿun(is) All-EncompassingعَلِيمٌۭʿalīmunAll-Knowing
3:73
يَخْتَصُّyakhtaṣṣuHe choosesبِرَحْمَتِهِۦbiraḥmatihifor His Mercyمَنmanwhomيَشَآءُ ۗyashāuHe willsوَٱللَّهُwal-lahuAnd Allahذُوdhū(is) the Possessorٱلْفَضْلِl-faḍli(of) Bounty ٱلْعَظِيمِl-ʿaẓīmi[the] great
3:74
۞ وَمِنْwaminAnd fromأَهْلِahli(the) Peopleٱلْكِتَـٰبِl-kitābi(of) the Bookمَنْman(is he) whoإِنinifتَأْمَنْهُtamanhuyou entrust himبِقِنطَارٍۢbiqinṭārinwith a great amount of wealthيُؤَدِّهِۦٓyu-addihihe will return itإِلَيْكَilaykato youوَمِنْهُمwamin'humAnd from themمَّنْman(is he) whoإِنinifتَأْمَنْهُtamanhuyou entrust himبِدِينَارٍۢbidīnārinwith a single coinلَّاlānotيُؤَدِّهِۦٓyu-addihihe will return itإِلَيْكَilaykato youإِلَّاillāexceptمَاmāthatدُمْتَdum'tayou keep constantlyعَلَيْهِʿalayhiover himقَآئِمًۭا ۗqāimanstandingذَٰلِكَdhālikaThatبِأَنَّهُمْbi-annahum(is) because theyقَالُوا۟qālūsaidلَيْسَlaysaNotعَلَيْنَاʿalaynāon usفِىfīconcerningٱلْأُمِّيِّـۧنَl-umiyīnathe unlettered peopleسَبِيلٌۭsabīlunany [way] (accountability)وَيَقُولُونَwayaqūlūnaAnd they sayعَلَىʿalāaboutٱللَّهِl-lahiAllahٱلْكَذِبَl-kadhibathe lieوَهُمْwahumwhile theyيَعْلَمُونَyaʿlamūnaknow
3:75
بَلَىٰbalāNayمَنْmanwhoeverأَوْفَىٰawfāfulfillsبِعَهْدِهِۦbiʿahdihihis covenantوَٱتَّقَىٰwa-ittaqāand fears (Allah)فَإِنَّfa-innathen indeedٱللَّهَl-lahaAllahيُحِبُّyuḥibbulovesٱلْمُتَّقِينَl-mutaqīnathose who fear (Him)
3:76
إِنَّinnaIndeedٱلَّذِينَalladhīnathose whoيَشْتَرُونَyashtarūnaexchangeبِعَهْدِbiʿahdi(the) Covenantٱللَّهِl-lahi(of) Allahوَأَيْمَـٰنِهِمْwa-aymānihimand their oathsثَمَنًۭاthamanan(for) a priceقَلِيلًاqalīlanlittleأُو۟لَـٰٓئِكَulāikathose لَاlānoخَلَـٰقَkhalāqashareلَهُمْlahumfor themفِىfīinٱلْـَٔاخِرَةِl-ākhiratithe Hereafterوَلَاwalāand notيُكَلِّمُهُمُyukallimuhumuwill speak to themٱللَّهُl-lahuAllahوَلَاwalāand notيَنظُرُyanẓurulookإِلَيْهِمْilayhimat themيَوْمَyawma(on the) Dayٱلْقِيَـٰمَةِl-qiyāmati(of) the Resurrectionوَلَاwalāand notيُزَكِّيهِمْyuzakkīhimpurify themوَلَهُمْwalahumand for themعَذَابٌʿadhābun(is) a punishmentأَلِيمٌۭalīmunpainful
3:77
