وَبَدَا لَهُمْ سَيِّـَٔـاتُ مَا كَسَبُواْ وَحَاقَ بِهِم مَّا كَانُواْ بِهِۦ يَسْتَهْزِءُونَ 48
فَإِذَا مَسَّ ٱلْإِنسَـٰنَ ضُرٌّ دَعَانَا ثُمَّ إِذَا خَوَّلْنَـٰهُ نِعْمَةً مِّنَّا قَالَ إِنَّمَآ أُوتِيتُهُۥ عَلَىٰ عِلْمِۭۚ بَلْ هِىَ فِتْنَةٌ وَلَـٰكِنَّ أَكْثَرَهُمْ لَا يَعْلَمُونَ 49
قَدْ قَالَهَا ٱلَّذِينَ مِن قَبْلِهِمْ فَمَآ أَغْنَىٰ عَنْهُم مَّا كَانُواْ يَكْسِبُونَ 50
فَأَصَابَهُمْ سَيِّـَٔـاتُ مَا كَسَبُواْۚ وَٱلَّذِينَ ظَلَمُواْ مِنْ هَـٰٓؤُلَآءِ سَيُصِيبُهُمْ سَيِّـَٔـاتُ مَا كَسَبُواْ وَمَا هُم بِمُعْجِزِينَ 51
أَوَلَمْ يَعْلَمُوٓاْ أَنَّ ٱللَّهَ يَبْسُطُ ٱلرِّزْقَ لِمَن يَشَآءُ وَيَقْدِرُۚ إِنَّ فِى ذَٲلِكَ لَأَيَـٰتٍ لِّقَوْمٍ يُؤْمِنُونَ 52
۞ قُلْ يَـٰعِبَادِىَ ٱلَّذِينَ أَسْرَفُواْ عَلَىٰٓ أَنفُسِهِمْ لَا تَقْنَطُواْ مِن رَّحْمَةِ ٱللَّهِۚ إِنَّ ٱللَّهَ يَغْفِرُ ٱلذُّنُوبَ جَمِيعًاۚ إِنَّهُۥ هُوَ ٱلْغَفُورُ ٱلرَّحِيمُ 53
وَأَنِيبُوٓاْ إِلَىٰ رَبِّكُمْ وَأَسْلِمُواْ لَهُۥ مِن قَبْلِ أَن يَأْتِيَكُمُ ٱلْعَذَابُ ثُمَّ لَا تُنصَرُونَ 54
وَٱتَّبِعُوٓاْ أَحْسَنَ مَآ أُنزِلَ إِلَيْكُم مِّن رَّبِّكُم مِّن قَبْلِ أَن يَأْتِيَكُمُ ٱلْعَذَابُ بَغْتَةً وَأَنتُمْ لَا تَشْعُرُونَ 55
أَن تَقُولَ نَفْسٌ يَـٰحَسْرَتَىٰ عَلَىٰ مَا فَرَّطتُ فِى جَنۢبِ ٱللَّهِ وَإِن كُنتُ لَمِنَ ٱلسَّـٰخِرِينَ 56
وَبَدَاwabadāAnd will become apparentلَهُمْlahumto themسَيِّـَٔاتُsayyiātu(the) evilsمَاmā(of) whatكَسَبُوا۟kasabūthey earnedوَحَاقَwaḥāqaand will surroundبِهِمbihimthemمَّاmāwhatكَانُوا۟kānūthey used toبِهِۦbihi[in it]يَسْتَهْزِءُونَyastahziūnamock
39:48
فَإِذَاfa-idhāSo whenمَسَّmassatouchesٱلْإِنسَـٰنَl-insāna[the] manضُرٌّۭḍurrunadversityدَعَانَاdaʿānāhe calls upon UsثُمَّthummathenإِذَاidhāwhenخَوَّلْنَـٰهُkhawwalnāhuWe bestow (on) himنِعْمَةًۭniʿ'matana favorمِّنَّاminnāfrom Usقَالَqālahe saysإِنَّمَآinnamāOnlyأُوتِيتُهُۥūtītuhuI have been given itعَلَىٰʿalāforعِلْمٍۭ ۚʿil'minknowledgeبَلْbalNayهِىَhiyaitفِتْنَةٌۭfit'natun(is) a trialوَلَـٰكِنَّwalākinnabutأَكْثَرَهُمْaktharahummost of themلَاlā(do) notيَعْلَمُونَyaʿlamūnaknow
39:49
قَدْqadIndeedقَالَهَاqālahāsaid itٱلَّذِينَalladhīnathoseمِنminbefore themقَبْلِهِمْqablihimbefore themفَمَآfamābut (did) notأَغْنَىٰaghnāavailعَنْهُمʿanhumthemمَّاmāwhatكَانُوا۟kānūthey used toيَكْسِبُونَyaksibūnaearn
39:50
فَأَصَابَهُمْfa-aṣābahumThen struck themسَيِّـَٔاتُsayyiātu(the) evilsمَاmā(of) whatكَسَبُوا۟ ۚkasabūthey earnedوَٱلَّذِينَwa-alladhīnaAnd those whoظَلَمُوا۟ẓalamūhave wrongedمِنْminofهَـٰٓؤُلَآءِhāulāitheseسَيُصِيبُهُمْsayuṣībuhumwill strike themسَيِّـَٔاتُsayyiātu(the) evilsمَاmā(of) whatكَسَبُوا۟kasabūthey earnedوَمَاwamāand notهُمhumtheyبِمُعْجِزِينَbimuʿ'jizīnawill be able to escape
39:51
أَوَلَمْawalamDo notيَعْلَمُوٓا۟yaʿlamūthey knowأَنَّannathatٱللَّهَl-lahaAllahيَبْسُطُyabsuṭuextendsٱلرِّزْقَl-riz'qathe provisionلِمَنlimanfor whomيَشَآءُyashāuHe willsوَيَقْدِرُ ۚwayaqdiruand restrictsإِنَّinnaIndeedفِىfīinذَٰلِكَdhālikathatلَـَٔايَـٰتٍۢlaāyātinsurely (are) signsلِّقَوْمٍۢliqawminfor a peopleيُؤْمِنُونَyu'minūnawho believe
39:52
۞ قُلْqulSayيَـٰعِبَادِىَyāʿibādiyaO My slavesٱلَّذِينَalladhīnaThose whoأَسْرَفُوا۟asrafūhave transgressedعَلَىٰٓʿalāagainstأَنفُسِهِمْanfusihimthemselvesلَاlā(do) notتَقْنَطُوا۟taqnaṭūdespairمِنminofرَّحْمَةِraḥmati(the) Mercyٱللَّهِ ۚl-lahi(of) AllahإِنَّinnaIndeedٱللَّهَl-lahaAllahيَغْفِرُyaghfiruforgivesٱلذُّنُوبَl-dhunūbathe sinsجَمِيعًا ۚjamīʿanallإِنَّهُۥinnahuIndeed HeهُوَhuwaHeٱلْغَفُورُl-ghafūru(is) the Oft-Forgivingٱلرَّحِيمُl-raḥīmuthe Most Merciful
39:53
وَأَنِيبُوٓا۟wa-anībūAnd turnإِلَىٰilātoرَبِّكُمْrabbikumyour Lordوَأَسْلِمُوا۟wa-aslimūand submitلَهُۥlahuto Himمِنminbeforeقَبْلِqablibeforeأَنan[that]يَأْتِيَكُمُyatiyakumucomes to youٱلْعَذَابُl-ʿadhābuthe punishmentثُمَّthummathenلَاlānotتُنصَرُونَtunṣarūnayou will be helped
39:54
وَٱتَّبِعُوٓا۟wa-ittabiʿūAnd followأَحْسَنَaḥsana(the) bestمَآmā(of) whatأُنزِلَunzilais revealedإِلَيْكُمilaykumto youمِّنminfromرَّبِّكُمrabbikumyour Lordمِّنminbeforeقَبْلِqablibeforeأَنan[that]يَأْتِيَكُمُyatiyakumucomes to youٱلْعَذَابُl-ʿadhābuthe punishmentبَغْتَةًۭbaghtatansuddenlyوَأَنتُمْwa-antumwhile youلَاlā(do) notتَشْعُرُونَtashʿurūnaperceive
39:55
أَنanLestتَقُولَtaqūlashould sayنَفْسٌۭnafsuna soulيَـٰحَسْرَتَىٰyāḥasratāOh! My regretعَلَىٰʿalāoverمَاmāwhatفَرَّطتُfarraṭtuI neglectedفِىfīinجَنۢبِjanbiregard (to)ٱللَّهِl-lahiAllahوَإِنwa-inand thatكُنتُkuntuI wasلَمِنَlaminasurely, amongٱلسَّـٰخِرِينَl-sākhirīnathe mockers
39:56
