فَلَمَّا فَصَلَ طَالُوتُ بِٱلْجُنُودِ قَالَ إِنَّ ٱللَّهَ مُبْتَلِيكُم بِنَهَرٍ فَمَن شَرِبَ مِنْهُ فَلَيْسَ مِنِّى وَمَن لَّمْ يَطْعَمْهُ فَإِنَّهُۥ مِنِّىٓ إِلَّا مَنِ ٱغْتَرَفَ غُرْفَةَۢ بِيَدِهِۦۚ فَشَرِبُواْ مِنْهُ إِلَّا قَلِيلاً مِّنْهُمْۚ فَلَمَّا جَاوَزَهُۥ هُوَ وَٱلَّذِينَ ءَامَنُواْ مَعَهُۥ قَالُواْ لَا طَاقَةَ لَنَا ٱلْيَوْمَ بِجَالُوتَ وَجُنُودِهِۦۚ قَالَ ٱلَّذِينَ يَظُنُّونَ أَنَّهُم مُّلَـٰقُواْ ٱللَّهِ كَم مِّن فِئَةٍ قَلِيلَةٍ غَلَبَتْ فِئَةً كَثِيرَةَۢ بِإِذْنِ ٱللَّهِۗ وَٱللَّهُ مَعَ ٱلصَّـٰبِرِينَ 249
وَلَمَّا بَرَزُواْ لِجَالُوتَ وَجُنُودِهِۦ قَالُواْ رَبَّنَآ أَفْرِغْ عَلَيْنَا صَبْرًا وَثَبِّتْ أَقْدَامَنَا وَٱنصُرْنَا عَلَى ٱلْقَوْمِ ٱلْكَـٰفِرِينَ 250
فَهَزَمُوهُم بِإِذْنِ ٱللَّهِ وَقَتَلَ دَاوُۥدُ جَالُوتَ وَءَاتَـٰهُ ٱللَّهُ ٱلْمُلْكَ وَٱلْحِكْمَةَ وَعَلَّمَهُۥ مِمَّا يَشَآءُۗ وَلَوْلَا دَفْعُ ٱللَّهِ ٱلنَّاسَ بَعْضَهُم بِبَعْضٍ لَّفَسَدَتِ ٱلْأَرْضُ وَلَـٰكِنَّ ٱللَّهَ ذُو فَضْلٍ عَلَى ٱلْعَـٰلَمِينَ 251
تِلْكَ ءَايَـٰتُ ٱللَّهِ نَتْلُوهَا عَلَيْكَ بِٱلْحَقِّۚ وَإِنَّكَ لَمِنَ ٱلْمُرْسَلِينَ 252
فَلَمَّاfalammāThen whenفَصَلَfaṣalaset outطَالُوتُṭālūtuTalutبِٱلْجُنُودِbil-junūdiwith the forcesقَالَqālahe saidإِنَّinnaIndeedٱللَّهَl-lahaAllahمُبْتَلِيكُمmub'talīkumwill test youبِنَهَرٍۢbinaharinwith a riverفَمَنfamanSo whoeverشَرِبَsharibadrinksمِنْهُmin'hufrom itفَلَيْسَfalaysathen he is notمِنِّىminnīfrom meوَمَنwamanand whoeverلَّمْlam(does) notيَطْعَمْهُyaṭʿamhutaste itفَإِنَّهُۥfa-innahuthen indeed, heمِنِّىٓminnī(is) from meإِلَّاillāexceptمَنِmaniwhoeverٱغْتَرَفَigh'tarafatakesغُرْفَةًۢghur'fatan(in the) hollowبِيَدِهِۦ ۚbiyadihi(of) his handفَشَرِبُوا۟fasharibūThen they drankمِنْهُmin'hufrom itإِلَّاillāexceptقَلِيلًۭاqalīlana fewمِّنْهُمْ ۚmin'humof themفَلَمَّاfalammāThen whenجَاوَزَهُۥjāwazahuhe crossed itهُوَhuwaheوَٱلَّذِينَwa-alladhīnaand those whoءَامَنُوا۟āmanūbelievedمَعَهُۥmaʿahuwith himقَالُوا۟qālūthey saidلَاlāNoطَاقَةَṭāqatastrengthلَنَاlanāfor usٱلْيَوْمَl-yawmatodayبِجَالُوتَbijālūtaagainst Jalutوَجُنُودِهِۦ ۚwajunūdihiand his troopsقَالَqālaSaidٱلَّذِينَalladhīnathose whoيَظُنُّونَyaẓunnūnawere certainأَنَّهُمannahumthat theyمُّلَـٰقُوا۟mulāqū(would) meetٱللَّهِl-lahiAllahكَمkamHow manyمِّنminofفِئَةٍۢfi-atina companyقَلِيلَةٍqalīlatinsmallغَلَبَتْghalabatovercameفِئَةًۭfi-atana companyكَثِيرَةًۢkathīratanlargeبِإِذْنِbi-idh'niby (the) permissionٱللَّهِ ۗl-lahi(of) Allahوَٱللَّهُwal-lahuAnd Allahمَعَmaʿa(is) withٱلصَّـٰبِرِينَl-ṣābirīnathe patient ones
2:249
وَلَمَّاwalammāAnd whenبَرَزُوا۟barazūthey went forthلِجَالُوتَlijālūtato (face) Jalutوَجُنُودِهِۦwajunūdihiand his troopsقَالُوا۟qālūthey saidرَبَّنَآrabbanāOur LordأَفْرِغْafrighPourعَلَيْنَاʿalaynāon usصَبْرًۭاṣabranpatienceوَثَبِّتْwathabbitand make firmأَقْدَامَنَاaqdāmanāour feetوَٱنصُرْنَاwa-unṣur'nāand help usعَلَىʿalāagainstٱلْقَوْمِl-qawmithe peopleٱلْكَـٰفِرِينَl-kāfirīna(who are) disbelieving
2:250
فَهَزَمُوهُمfahazamūhumSo they defeated themبِإِذْنِbi-idh'niby (the) permissionٱللَّهِl-lahi(of) Allahوَقَتَلَwaqatalaand killedدَاوُۥدُdāwūduDawoodجَالُوتَjālūtaJalutوَءَاتَىٰهُwaātāhuand gave himٱللَّهُl-lahuAllahٱلْمُلْكَl-mul'kathe kingdomوَٱلْحِكْمَةَwal-ḥik'mataand the wisdomوَعَلَّمَهُۥwaʿallamahuand taught himمِمَّاmimmāthat whichيَشَآءُ ۗyashāuHe willedوَلَوْلَاwalawlāAnd if notدَفْعُdafʿu(for the) repellingٱللَّهِl-lahi(by) Allahٱلنَّاسَl-nāsa[the] people بَعْضَهُمbaʿḍahumsome of themبِبَعْضٍۢbibaʿḍinwith othersلَّفَسَدَتِlafasadaticertainly (would have) corruptedٱلْأَرْضُl-arḍuthe Earthوَلَـٰكِنَّwalākinna[and] butٱللَّهَl-lahaAllahذُوdhū(is) Possessorفَضْلٍfaḍlin(of) bountyعَلَىʿalātoٱلْعَـٰلَمِينَl-ʿālamīnathe worlds
2:251
تِلْكَtil'kaTheseءَايَـٰتُāyātu(are the) Versesٱللَّهِl-lahi(of) AllahنَتْلُوهَاnatlūhāWe recite themعَلَيْكَʿalaykato youبِٱلْحَقِّ ۚbil-ḥaqiin [the] truthوَإِنَّكَwa-innakaAnd indeed, youلَمِنَlamina(are) surely ofٱلْمُرْسَلِينَl-mur'salīnathe Messengers
