رَوَى عَن: إدريس بن يزيد الأودي، وحميد الطويل، وسلمة بن كهيل، وسهيل بن أبي صالح، وعمرو بن مرة، وليث بن أبي سليم، ومنصور بن المعتمر، ويزيد الرقاشي (ت) ، وأبي إسحاق السبيعي، وأبي الزبير المكي.
رَوَى عَنه: أخوه زهير بن معاوية، وزياد بن عبد الله البكائي، وأبو بدر شجاع بن الوليد السكوني (ت) ، ويحيى الجعفي جد أحمد بن محمد بن يحيى الكوفي.
