رَوَى عَن: أبيه عقيل بن معقل (٣) (د) .
رَوَى عَنه: أحمد بن حنبل، وابن عمه أبو هاشم إسماعيل بن عبد الكريم بن معقل (د) ، وزيد بن المبارك الصنعاني، وأبو حذيفة الصنعاني، واسمه عبد الله بن محمد بن عبد الكريم، وقيل: محمد بن عبيد الله، والأول أصح.
قال عباس الدوري عن يحيى بن معين (٤) : كان يأتي هشام بن يوسف.
وقد رأيته ولم يكن به بأس. وقال العجلي (٥) : ثقة.
