الإمام في القراءات وغيرها من التفسير، واللغة والتاريخ، وروى تفسير الثعلبي عنه، وعن الشريف الزيدي الحراني، عن القطيعي: مسند أحمد، وسمع ببغداد من أبي الطيب الطبري وغيره، وسمع بمصر وحران وحلب وغيرها، وروى عنه أبو نصر الغازي، والقاضي أبو بكر الأنصاري وغيرهما، وتوفي بمكة بعد سنة سبعين وأربع مائة.
