وحدّث عن: بِشْر بن موسى، وأبي خليفة، ومحمد بن جرير الطَّبَريّ، وجماعة.
وعنه: أبو بكر بن شاذان، وأبو القاسم بن الثّلاج، وعب الغني بن سعيد الحافظ وقال: كتبنا عنه، وما كان ممن يُفْرَح به.
قلت: وهو الذي تفرّد بحكاية الهميان عن ابن جرير، وفي النفس من ثُبُوتها شيء، ويُعرف بالشَّيْبي.
