(also spelled Sultan bin Ahmad Al-Owaid) was a Saudi Islamic scholar, imam, and Quran reciter born on January 28, 1967 in Al-Takbah, Al-Khobar, Saudi Arabia. He earned a Bachelor’s degree in Usul al-Din (Islamic creed) from Imam Muhammad ibn Saud Islamic University in Al-Ahsa, where he also memorized the Qur’an during his early university years, and later served as a lecturer in the department of Usul al-Din.

Renowned for his murattal recitation in the Hafs ‘an ‘Asim riwāyah, Sultan Al-Owaid’s voice combined clarity, measured pacing, and spiritual gravity. He gained a large following as the imam and khateeb of Faisal bin Turki Mosque in Dammam and held prominent positions including General Director of Fatwa in Dammam’s Islamic Affairs office and membership in charitable and educational councils.

Sultan Al-Owaid studied under esteemed scholars such as Abdulrahman Al-Barak, Abdulaziz Al-Rajhi, Manie Al-Qattan, and Ibn Uthaymeen. He was admired for his humility
