Born in 1965 in Tehran Iran he is highly respected for his masterful command of Tajweed and his deeply spiritual and melodious recitation. He primarily recites in the Hafs ‘an Asim narration but like many Iranian Qaris is proficient in various melodic modes (maqamat). Digital Quranic archives feature numerous recordings of his recitations including complete recitations of the Holy Quran and various individual surahs. His recitation style is often described as serene soulful and profoundly moving.

Shahriar Parhizgar has achieved significant recognition in international Quran competitions winning numerous awards and accolades. He has traveled extensively across the globe to recite the Quran teach Quranic sciences and serve as a judge in international competitions.
