spelled Safwat Al‑Shawadfi or Safwat Ash‑Shawadfi, was an Egyptian Islamic scholar and Quran reciter born in 1955 in the village of Al‑Shaghania, Al‑Sharkia Governorate. He memorized the Qur’an from a young age and pursued advanced religious studies, graduating from the University of Business and Political Sciences before undertaking specialized training in Shāfiʿī jurisprudence and Qur’anic recitation.

A highly respected thinker and speaker, Safwat combined his recitation with religious teaching and social engagement. He founded organizations focused on Islamic education, preached in mosques through Egypt and Saudi Arabia, and established Islamic media outlets and publishing centers. He was known for his articulate, Tajwīd‑aware recitation style rooted in scholarly reflection.
