Born in 1917 in the village of Shobra An-Namla Tanta Gharbia Governorate Egypt, he began memorizing the Quran at a very young age and completed his memorization by the age of eight. He went on to study at Al-Azhar University, mastering the ten Qira’at or recitation styles of the Quran.

He was known for his precise Tajweed, clear pronunciation, and adherence to the rules of recitation. While he primarily recited in the Hafs ‘an Asim narration, he also recorded the Quran in other authentic narrations, including the Warsh ‘an Naafi’ narration. Warsh ‘an Naafi’ is a widely recognized method of reciting the Quran transmitted through Imam War
