led Mahmoud Idris, was a distinguished Quran reciter and imam born in Lod, Palestine, around 1938. After memorizing the Qur’an by age 23, he moved to Jordan, where he served as imam and teacher at Amman’s prominent mosques, including Omar ibn al-Khattab Mosque (1961–1972) and Dar al-Qur’an Mosque (1972–1994), while also teaching Tajwīd and Qur’anic interpretation at Al al-Bayt University and its College of Sharia.

A respected scholar of Ilm al-Tajwīd, he earned the nickname “Knight of Recitation and Precision,” and hosted a thirty-episode radio program in Jordan to teach Qur’anic Tajwīd rules. His recitation style combined steadiness, clarity, and emotional depth, leaving a legacy of recordings cherished by students of the Qur’an. He passed away in Zarqa, Jordan on January 14, 2015.
