Born in 1927 in Armant a village in Luxor Governorate Egypt he began memorizing the Quran at a very young age and completed it by the age of 10. He is considered one of the greatest reciters in history, known for his exceptionally melodious voice, remarkable breath control, and profound emotional delivery that deeply moves listeners.

While he primarily recited in the Hafs ‘an Asim narration, he also mastered and recorded the Quran in other authentic narrations. This recording features his recitation in the Warsh ‘an Naafi’ narration. Warsh ‘an Naafi’ is a widely recognized method of reciting the Quran transmitted through Imam Warsh from Imam Nafi’ al-Madani, and it is especially prominent in North and West African countries. His recitations gained immense popularity globally through radio and television broadcasts and numerous recordings.
