so spelled Abdel-Fattah Al-Shasha’i, Abdul Fattah Al Shaashai) was a renowned Quran reciter from Egypt, born on March 21, 1890, in Shashaa village, Menoufia Governorate. He passed away on November 11, 1962, at the age of 72.

He primarily recited in the Hafs ‘an Asim narration. Digital Qur’anic archives feature numerous recordings of his recitations. His voice was highly distinctive, characterized by its “dew sound,” intonation, and melodic qualities that transported listeners to a state of reverence and contemplation. He was often described as a master of the art of recitation among the first generation of prominent reciters in Egypt and the Arab world.

Abdul Fattah Shashaey memorized the Noble Quran under his father, Sheikh Mahmoud Al Shasha’i, completing it in 1900. He then traveled to Tanta to further his knowledge at the Ahmadi Mosque and to learn Tajweed. He later joined Al-Azhar Al-Sharif in Cairo in 1914, where he studied readings under Sheikh Bayoumi
