إبراهيم بن محمد الفارسي، أبو إسحاق الإصطخري ويقال له الكرخي: جغرافي، رحالة، من العلماء.
من أهل إصطخر (بإيران) قام بسياحة طاف بها بلاد العرب وبعض بلاد الهند، وبلغ الأوقيانوس الأتلانتيكي، واستعان بكتاب (صور الأقاليم) لأبي زيد البلخي، ولم تكن مصادر علم البلدان موفورة في عصره،
فألف كتابيه (صور الأقاليم - ط) على اسم كتاب البلخي، و (مسالك الممالك - ط) ونقل ياقوت عنهما أو عن أحدهما في معجم البلدان، وأغفل ترجمته أو الإشارة إليه في كلامه على إصطخر، مكتفيا بتسميته في مقدمة المعجم أبا إسحاق الإصطخري
